Hi guys,
General question:
Is it possible to get push notifications without P2P (Peer 2 Peer) configuration in the VTO?
I don't want to connect my VTO to chineese cloud servers.
I have a seperate network for my home automation (Behind Firewall), wich has no internet access. My VTO and VTH are in this network.
If i use gdmss Plus, i can connect to my VTO successful (IP/Domain option in configuration).
Everything is working fine, but i dont get any push notifications when the ring button is pressed on the VTO.
Can someone help me?
You do not need P2 activated on your cams and connect through your phone. That's the good news. However, to receive push notifications you do need to open one outbound TCP port to the internet (2195). So keep your DMSS app configured on IP/Domain, open a VPN tunnel. When your cam detects something, it sends to 2195 the push notification, your phone which is subscribed to the push service will then receive the message. Clicking on it will then open the app and jump into the VTO screen.
That's how I use DMSS & VTH/VTO.
Hope this helps!

That are really great news!!....Thanks a lot!!
I will test that!
I don't need any VPN because it's okay for me to have push notifications in LAN/WLAN only.
So the TCP/2195 Port must be open to the internet?....is it not enough that the port is open to my LAN network? (that network, where my mobile phone is connected to)
Thanks so far
I've now tested the whole scenario...Actually, for these push notifications to work, you need connection to (either google push or apple push) notification services which reside on the internet. So your VTH/VTO need to send TCP/2195 outbound to internet. Whether your cell is on LAN/WLAN/WAN, it will always receive these push notifications. They contain a "link" to the IP/DOMAIN of your VTH/VTO (or even NVR), that's why I adviced to have an always-on VPN on your mobile, so when you click, you'll get your feeds/replays instantly. If you only want to have access when being on your LAN/WLAN, you don't need VPN. But push works everywhere independently of VPN.
Hope this helps!

Hi Cat,Ciao Fra!
Configuring from your private IP lan is good, configuring from your external network is a full no-go fly zone! Please do read the Cliff Notes and analyse the "secure your network" part. Much more detail can be found here: VPN Primer for Noobs
In any case: I often encounter with gDMSS/iDMSS updates that the alarm manager "looses" its memory. Sometimes it is enough to "re-activate" (meaning: toggle the switch) the alarm manager's entry on the VTO (doorbell). Sometimes I have to uninstall the app and wipe all data. Only today, it went completely nuts, and had to "factory reset" my VTO. I had no image, but only audio. Don't know what happened, but factory reset, reconnection to my VTH and poof, push notifications worked from the start.
Hope this helps!

Hi Cat,
thanks for reply. I try to explain better my question. When I said that I want to connect to my VTO from the external net I meant that I configured the P2P access. I've already tried to uninstall gdmss app from the phone but nothing. I also tried to analyze deeply the phone because I know that sometimes android 8 can stop and freeze apps. I don't know how to restore the notification. at the moment I have not tried to reset the VTO.

Thanks.
I followed your suggestion.
I configured a vpn at home and now I can connect myself to the local net.
My phone is always connected to the VPN and obviously I configured the VtO and the IPC with the private addrs, but no notifications if someone try to ring the intercom.
I don't know what I have to do yet.
