DS-2CD2732F-I(S) memory

i just orderd a DS-2CD2732F-I(S) hikvision camera , looking at its specs it has a onboard microsd slot , could i know why there is such slot ?
is it served as a backup NVR ( just in case NVR stopped recording ) ?
or is it for people who dont have a NVR ? is it possible to have this cctv running without a NVR ? just recording on its built in microsd slot

Welcome to the forum. It can be used both with an without the nvr...you can just record to the sd card if you want...

I have a similar Hikvision cam with an SD card slot, and I have it recording upon motion detection to its SD card without an NVR. Poor thing is in my kitchen and fills all 11 GB of recording capacity in about a week. It does automatically delete the oldest clips so I can just set it and forget it; in the event someone breaks into my house and doesn't take the cam, I'll be able to get evidence from the card.
