DS-7616NI-E2/8P serial port

Hello

Has you know, firmware V 3.3.x doesn't support telnet operation (no more activation check box by gui),
so i'm asking if it as possible to do some telnet operation by serial port by putty even option disappeared.

But DS-7616NI-E2/8P doesn't have serial port RS232 on back, otherwhise it could be possible
directly on the logic board ?

Here is a my logic board, from DS-7616NI-E2/8P may 2015 production, does is the 1 2 or 3 ?
The 2 may be the good suspect with is 8 pin, but i'm not quit sure :uncomfortableness:

Salut Frank,

On board 4 pins serial connector usually had TX,RX,+5V, GND. It is possible to figure out +5V and GND with multimeter.

Quite correct.
The command access after bootup will drop you in the Busybox 'protect shell' psh
And the u-boot access will only allow you to do a tftp firmware update. Though you do get to specify the source IP address, which saves having to mess with your PC network settings.
But you will get a good view of the serial console messages, useful for troubleshooting.

R pin is on my photo to represent Left and Right on the connector, but i don't know it purpose

The pin labelled 'R' is a power pin, though I can't confirm if it's +5v.
If you get a USB-serial-TTL convertor you can and should leave it disconnected.

if TTL to USB Converter it is possible to choose 5V or 3.3v, select 3,3

Absolutely with USB-serialTTL, power is provided by USB connector from PC side.
If RS232-serialTTL is in use, Ic of converter need to be power, mostly come from target device side (NVR here).

Did you ever get this working?

I am looking to do a recovery of my DS-7616NI-E2/8P NVR as it is non responsive with the tfttp after firmware update.

Also where did you get a pigtail for the connection to the 4 pin TTL port?
