Ptz425DB-AT PTZ controls stopped working and when I log into the camera directly I can get no image form anywhere within the camera. However I do get an image in BI and tracking seems to be working. I've rest the cam endless times, I tried every cam setting in BI, I've tried multiple browsers and multiple computers to no avail.

Please help. :(

EDIT - Should have mentioned that PTZ is set to Dahua New V4

Multiple browsers including the old internet explorer? Have you also delete the plugin for the camera on Internet Explorer and re-download it again to see if it work?

I reloaded the firmware then did a redetect and it started working again. But after the redetect, the setting are all different. They're not the same as they were before PTZ stopped working.
Some time ago PTZ stopped working and the fix was to select PTZ Dahua New V4. This time this setting apparently had nothing to do with the problem.

Andy, are you listening?

Current settings are -

Captureeee.PNG

The plug in only works for Explorer.

Open explorer and delete all of the extensions and then close and reopen to camera IP

I don't use Internet explorer, never have and never will.

Found some instructions on The Dahua Wiki that said delete the webrec folder but I can't because it's being used by god only knows what. I'm rebooting the server and will try again. I'm assuming that once I do the web page will ask to install the plugin but who knows. I did nothing to create this problem and nothing was updated. :(

EDIT - After the reboot i was able to delete the webrec folder and then got the message to allow video something to load and I answered yes and then I was able to DL the webplugin and now it's working.

Problem now is next time i run into this problem i will have forgotten how to do it. Thank for the help.

You do realize the firmware was designed around Explorer and why the plug-in only works for Explorer....doesn't mean it won't work with other browsers, but when there are problems, Explorer or Pale Moon browser will work..

Are you sure the camera, BI or windows didn't update?

I use Vivaldi and it probably did update but even it was the problem, how was it fixed without updating anything else? The firmware I flashed was the same as was already loaded in the cam and I'm running Windows 2012 R2 which doesn't update at all. Last time this happened it was also out of the blue and also left me without a clue as to what happened.

As for Explorer, it's a dead browser, I doubt anybody uses it anymore. Pale Moon i haven't tried but will if this happens again.

Bang your head against the wall all you want. Internet Explorer works with every Dahua camera I have and if it ain't broke, I'm not going to "fix" it.

I'm trying to use the web GUI to draw an intrusion area and cannot. Unless this functionality is just for hobby enthusiasts, not having full support of the most widely use browsers in the world is quite disconcerting.

By now perhaps you are realizing that you doubted wrong and understand that IE is not "dead" yet. No biggie, you're by no means alone in that.

No sir. I got mine working. Don't remember what I did but it's been working normally ever since. I reset, powered off and on, etc.
IE is dead as far as I'm concerned. If you use it then good for you.

While newer cameras are supposed to work with other browsers and not need the plug-in nonsense, keep in mind to ensure full compatibility, IE is still preferred. And this isn't specific to just Dahua either. And sometimes the plug-in nonsense is needed.

It comes down to IE was the most popular browser when these cameras started to be made, so they centered the firmware around one particular browser and they got lazy and never updated the internals of the program to play nice with other browsers as more became available and IE started to fade.

Back when the firmware was written, it was probably a pain to get it to play nice with every different browser, so they went with the most popular one.

They haven't had a need to address this because their intended market (hint it isn't us) is mainly businesses where they have enough light they can stay in default settings so they don't have a need to login to the camera via browser. It is us homeowners that push these to the limits and actually change settings.

So we either deal with outdated browsers but better cameras or go with crap consumer grade cameras that use fancy apps (but probably more vulnerabilities than this plug-in) and modern browsers but horrible images.

A trusted member here wildcat_1, who works closely with Dahua and gets "under the hood" of the firmware, including this new GUI, said in this thread:

"Not a case of only using IE for testing, it's more the case that this is the only fully compatible browser that truly work with Dahua GUI's. As we've all discussed before, other browsers unfortunately (up to Firefox support most recently) cause anomalies in config, maintenance modes, updates etc. All of this reported back to Dahua to tackle in future but while we all await compatibility with wider browser and platform acceptance OR browser agnostic GUI's, this is unfortunately where we're all at."

So while Dahua claims other browsers are supported, someone that looks at the fine details of the firmware, coupled with many users experience here, that Internet Explorer provides the best opportunity to set up the camera and the setting stick.

Doesn't mean you won't have a problem with another browser, but it is rolling the dice.

Simply use Internet Explorer or Pale Moon and be done with it.

Nice to know. Thanks.

How to enable native Internet Explorer in Windows 10 and 11:
  1. Open Notepad:
  2. Copy then paste the single line of code below into Notepad:
  3. CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application").Visible=true
  4. Save as OpenIE.vbs
  5. Make sure the the file name ends in .vbs not .txt, If it ends in .txt you must rename to .vbs
  6. Create a shortcut to the above file and double-click it anytime you want native Internet Explorer
  7. Download any of the plug-in the NVR or camera asks for.

I actually have IE itself on some W10 servers too, but no matter what I do, and settings I change, it keeps redirecting to Edge.
I'll try to figure out what to do from what you just posted. I'm no guru at that though. I'll get it, maybe by next week but I'll get it.
