The cameras aren't fakes. For one, the prices on aliexpress aren't even suspiciously cheap compared to what they sell for on Chinese sites where they're still proudly branded as 100% original hikvision. Secondly, they have the entire hikvision ranges, fakes will only be made in items which are extremely popular and worth creating dupes. Let's be honest here, a Hikvision camera ain't no apple watch in terms of appeal to the masses.

Interesting analogy, mine would be that it would be a wiser business move to copy a cheap item and make better margin percentage. A counterfeit is the same in all manner of components just poor quality components in some not all cases. You are trying to debate against what is actually going on in the world at this time which I guess is what forums are about open discussion. My intention is to just educate yourself and be aware as none of us can stop what China is producing. Again I will emphasize they copy everything without recourse from international law. In the end a fake Hikvision camera may work just as well as the original in some cases and you would never know any different. Trust me I am banking on what I buy from China working just as well but, the gambler side of me is willing to take that chance.

The same but poorer quality? There's many people who have been running their 'fake' cameras for a long long time without any issues. So to me it seems more like same components, same quality. At the very worst, they're straight off the Hikvision production line but into unauthorized distribution channels.

This seems to be a common question with Chinese buyers worrying about fake Hikvision. The answer generally is, there is no fake Hikvisions. They are already affordable, so it is not appealing to counterfeiters.

Actually that is a fact. Tmall is a sister company of taobao, with higher fees and is usually where hikvision authorized sellers will sell. They show pictures of the brown box cameras, and there is literally a 0% chance of buying fakes on tmall. Taobao sellers often aren't authorized (you have to pay a fee to hikvision for the privilidge) so some of them blur out the labels, but you get lower prices.

The cameras are just cheap in China. A ds-2cd3345-i is around $60 from an authorized reseller on tmall, and $52 on taobao. You got to keep in mind the average wage in China. If Hikvision charged in China as much as they do in Europe/US, nobody would buy them.

It's not US dollars. The original article is Chinese and translates literally as 370 hundred thousand. Might surprise you, but China has its own currency and generally they won't be talking about US dollars.

I don't see what I missed? But let's assume Xinray did say that. Here's why.

Hikvision weren't happy with so many people buying multilanguage firmware chinese cams from aliexpress. So they contacted aliexpress and said they don't allow the sale of modified Hikvision products. There was a purge a few months ago where all the ads just disappeared. So now, all the sellers there are forced to remove Hikvision from the ad title, and hide logos. If they really said that to you, it's because they are not allowed to sell Hikvision cameras, so can't tell you that they are Hikvision. The answer you get may depend on which of their employees you are speaking to.

The cameras are genuine Hikvision. However if you have to ask them before and after you bought them to send you Hikvision cameras, it's probably best you buy locally because you'll just find some way to convince yourself they are fake.

I have a good friend who visits Shenzhen 2 or 3 times a year and has done for many years, he's an electronics manufacturing specialist, so knows this stuff pretty well. And is very familiar with how the Chinese operate.
About the time last year when Hikvision were making strenuous attempts to squeeze down on the low-margin on-line and other resellers of China region cameras it was quite difficult to buy them in the usual shops and markets because Hikvision were sending people out to try and buy the products, to identify the resellers. So the resellers got very cagey about selling the products that had been modified to work better outside China. There was some suspicion about 'Hikvision spies', and a need to come back later so you didn't see what they did to the initially untouched brown box products.

4 at once you might risk import and duties with that many at once. I order one at a time with a 10 buck value and never been taxed. This depends where you are and Aliexpress or ?
