Hello,

To many variables going on. Just got fiber and I am held hostage to using a router dumbed down to the lowest common denominator. My PC and cameras are currently off the grid because the router hates them.

I've been fighting with it/restoring defaults etc.

Cameras show as

DS-2CD2132-I with Software Version 5.2.0 build 140721
NC303-MD with Software Version 5.2.0 build 141016

What does this tell me about the cameras? Just trying to rule out as many conflicts as possible. I was having a hell of a time fixing a "network abnormal" error that wouldn't let me log into a camera after changing a password. Unhooked it from the router and all the problems went away. I wish I could have my old router back.

Guess I should of been more clear, why are the default device type and build versions different on the cameras? They are the same 5.2.0? Is one of these gray market? It shouldn't have been for what I payed.

The build 141016 will not let me upgrade the firmware. I am sending it back to seller.

What was the error that was displayed?
Firmware mismatch?
Language mismatch?
Which of the many version and regional variations of firmware did you try?

It only says "upgrade failed". I see lots of references to different 5.2.x firmwares but I can't find any of them. The only firmware I can find is the 5.2.0 build 140721 on HikVision's website.

Well, I paid the premium to buy them from a vendor that advertised them as US/English Firmware. The one running 140721 came first and no problems. The 141016 came from same vendor a few months later, and seems a little hokey and I'm having problems with reliability - but they both came in English retail boxes. It's packed up and ready to go back. I would just like to know if the build is a matter of it being a gray market. I really don't have the time to hack firmware and I shouldn't have to because I paid the price.

So what do you think? Is it a foreign version?

Thanks.

If it's unreliable you should send it back.
If it's easy to power up again, the Hikvision cameras give some useful info with 'prtHardInfo' at a telnet or SSH prompt.

Thanks for the info. I have no experience with telnet, but now you have me intrigued. I'll have to explore. Is there a program you can point me to for telnet? Thanks for all your info.

Got it set up. Thanks, anything specific I look for when logged into camera via TelNet or SSH?

A good starting point, at least for hardware info on Hikvision cameras is the command 'prtHardInfo'.
Some software info can be had with 'df' and 'mount'

So the things that have me concerned on the NC303 questionable camera.

"OEM INFO: DZ20140829_55" This line doesn't exist on other
"Working Copy Root Path: /data2/data_wangkai3/work/custom_code/SERIOUS_4_OEM_NEU_ipc_release_V5.2.0_build20140721_custom"

The author and date are later too, but otherwise nothing sticks out under #prtHardInfo

I seemed to have purchased the same camera as johngalt. I'm putting this here in case anyone else runs across this camera:
Purchased from Monoprice: http://www.monoprice.com/Product?p_id=12461 I'm curious to know the equivalent Hikvision non-OEM model number. Looks like I might have overpaid for this OEM version instead of getting one from Alibaba.

This OEM IPC is packed with the SADP tool. Not too difficult to find out it's a Hikvision.

That is a hikvision 2132-i.....
There are several versions of that camera including an F versions that is 3 axis (for wall mounting) and has an sd card slot..there is also an S version with audio and alarm in/out and a wireless version.
A better camera is the 2332 turret..

Hi All,

I am jumping in QUITE Late.
But Fenderman, how did you know it's an HIKVision and which model ?
I seem to have a slew of these. Bought them from a local vendor back in 15, they went out of business in 17. now I want to update the firmware on them and just don't know which one goes with which.
This is what I have:
