Hi. I recently made the mistake of trying to upgrade the firmware for a DS-2CD2432F-IW camera to try to fix a random IP disconnect that the camera was having (3 other cams ok). I upgraded the firmware with the wrong one (different model camera), and have since been trying to update the firmware to the correct one via tftp. Despite what version of the correct firmware I choose, 5.2.5 (preferably) I never get a system update completed message even after waiting 30 min. The camera is currently in Mini-system mode. This is as far as I ever get.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

In Min-system mode, you should be able to use telnet (PuTTY is a good client) to get to a command line.
Depending on the Min-system version - you should be able to grab a copy of the system log which may hold clues as to why it's not booting normally.

cat /proc/kmsg
then Control-C to exit back to the command line.
Or perhaps
dmesg

I'm unable to telnet to the camera, but I do have another camera of the same model that I can telnet to. Is there something I can grab from the working camera to transfer to the broken one via tftp? I don't know how to navigate the Mini-system (busybox) very well.

Post a copy of the label on the camera from there we will tell what is the correct firmware for you to recover from.

The label for the working camera, or the non-working camera? The version on the broken camera is 5.3.0

You should be able to recover the camera with the downgrader and the tftp program.

Use the single line version, you may also have to use Hiktools to set the region flag to 1.

But I will recover

What is the single line version? The SDT tool will not save changes to the camera. How to change region?

My camera model is 2cd2432f & there is warning about the downgrader not being for that model. Am I looking at the wrong one?

I tried the 5.3.0 to 5.2.5 Downgrader, and I still do not get a "system update completed" message. I changed the region code to 1, and tried again, same thing. I wasn't able to find a downgrader that said one line version, only 4 line version.

whoslooking & alastairstevenson .... Thank you!! :)
The 1 line version worked perfectly, and quickly!
I almost threw it away a few weeks ago after buying a replacement.:mask:
No more firmware updates for cams that work!!

Actually - @whoslooking is the one to thank - all I've done is parrot his advice - his '5.2.5 Downgrader' has helped so many people recover their bricked cameras we've lost count.

Does anyone else think that Hikvision will not be issuing any more firmware updates to the 2x32 non-WDR series above the 5.3.0 that's been out for a while?
Looks like it may be considered a mature product.
And I've seen no more of the 'Monthly Marketing Newsletters' - none for March, so no news from that source.
And with the less-than-ecstatic experiences of the 2x4x series maybe time to look around elsewhere.
If only the Longse products had the 'smart events' that Hikvision have developed ...

That's great news.
After a resent sales meeting with on of the UK sales rep's it would seem all the 2xxx models are reaching end of life.
They are now pushing there smart 2.0 series cameras.

With new ranges of value cameras, but the one big plus is the trade price are now dropping lower. so grey market models are not worth buying, well not by trade anyway.
