I got 4 IPC-HDW5231R-ZE all from Andy. I have installed one already, and still have 3 in the box, that I was planning on hanging this weekend. I was reading some more on the wiki cliff notes, and it is talking about firmware updates. Is there a firmware update for this model, and if so where might that be?

Also I am in the US should I be running NTSC or PAL or does it matter? Thanks guys.

Preparation – Before Disabling The Internet Connection
If using a password manager, generate the random password while you have an internet connection;
you will copy and paste it in step 6. Access any links in the instructions below you may need, and
download any researched and vetted firmware you may wish to install. The international model
cameras can accept either NTSC or PAL firmware.

Hey buddy

EmpireTech Andy
Use this link to upgrade, right now the new firmware can select PAL or NTSC. Just download it and install it, For the password, i think better to set the password you are easy remember, because hard reset is bit hard if you hang all up on the wall. You have to take it down to open the camera and make reset, and then hang up again. Bit waste of time.

Thanks Andy! I do not see a link, other than your name. So if I am in the US would you recommend running PAL or NTSC? I see these two all the time, but have no idea the differences.

20180523 Firmware for DH_IPC-HX5X3X-Rhea sorry, use this one.
US use NTSC. But for IP ones, they are working the same. You can flash this firmware for upgrading.

I have already connected to one camera directly from my PC to my new dahua camera. Now on these second batch of cameras I can not direct connect from my pc via ethernet cable.

I see the default ip is 192.168.1.8 for the camera. My PC settings are 192.168.1.2 and subnet 255.255.255.0 and have the gateway blank. What am I missing here????

default is .108 not .8

Yeah I meant 108, but for some weird reason when I plug my computer into my switch directly it says connected. However, when I connect the ethernet cable to the camera it says the cable is unplugged. This sounds more like my computer problem than the camera, but any insight would be mighty helpful. I have set all the manual ip settings for the computer and subnet, but still nothing.

are you plugging into a poe port?

damn it, your right. FUCK me. I need to plug the camera into a POE switch and then the computer into the same switch.

I have 12V to the camera, my computer plugged directly into the ethernet port, and my computer ip set as 192.168.1.100 subnet 255.255.255.0 no gateway and I can not get to the login on 192.168.1.108. Any suggestions here? Man I appreciate the help!
