Hi everyone

Hoping you can give some advice.

I am looking to purchase H.265 compatible cameras and NVR. Are these any good?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hikvision...399188?hash=item1a1705b314:g:LN0AAOSwepJXVWEp

or

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hikvision...483471?hash=item33b5dce00f:g:tVgAAOSwEetV8bHA

What is the difference between those two models 2CD2145F vs 2CD3145F?

Also what NVR would you recommend to go with this. I am looking for 10 cameras so an NVR with 10+ poe ports would be ideal.

Is buying from ebay risky? Do any uk sellers actually sell h.265 hikvision cameras?

Thank you for any help.

[/URL]I don't think Hikvision NVR's have H.265 Compression ability.
The difference from 2135 to 2145 is the 3 represents 3 megapixel and 4 is 4 megapixel
The domes don't have good night time IR but good say at front door or in an area flooded by IR or sensor lights
The EXIR cams that I listed above have very good night IR. 10 x cams will use approx. 90watts with IR on. NVR has 200 watt capability
Running 10 x 4mp cams may put strain on your network but you could run in substream , reduce frame rate etc

Other's are more knowledgeable and can help more

good luck

There are quite a few nvr listed on hikvision website with support for h.265. I think the 2cd2145 also supports it. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Whether chinese grey imported H265 cameras will work with English/Multi-language H265 NVR in H265 I'm not sure. Will work H264 but as these have been hacked I don't know. I have one but not tested it yet.

These links you are importing them and also the buyers have low feedback 98.7% for a seller is low when the average is 99.8% or something ridiculous.

Stop worrying about H264 and get the right cameras to suit your needs rather than the wrong cameras which either 1) don't work or 2) do work with H265 but are worse than if you got H264 ones.

DS-2CD2145-I is a chinese model btw. No official UK seller would be allowed to sell this by Hikvision. That's why you can only find them on eBay or Amazon where they are grey-imported.

The reason I want h.265 is so that I can maximise my recording time length. The nvr I was looking at can only take 2x6tb which doesn't give much recording time when running at full 4mp resolution. Please offer alternative suggestions that would be better suited. I can probably stretch the budget slightly more if that helps.

How much recording time do you need? 12TB with H264+ you'll be getting a minimum of 18 days footage. If there isn't much movement most day and night you'll get a month.

More info needed. But I'd rather get 7716E4 with 4x6TB then mess around with these grey-imports. Reliability is no1 for big installs.

I will be running it on a 24/7 basis instead of motion detection. I wanted to run it on max 4mp setting and was hoping to get about a months worth of footage from 10 cameras. I know I may not hit the target but I want to get as close as possible which is why I was looking at h.265.

Well you'll get about a month 24/7 with H264+ and 4MP it's tried, tested and proven solution.

Otherwise you shouldn't be getting Hikvision if you insist on H265.

Horse -> Water.

Just been reading a few articles. Didn't realise h.264+ was as good as h.265. If that's the case I'll go with that.

4k seems out of my price range. What's the max in terms of resolution I can get for about £150 per camera?

And would the 12tb on h.264+ be good for a month or should I look at alternative larger nvr?

It's not as good but if the picture remains the same it is decent, and you aren't panning the camera like a movie would be.

Get cameras and NVR from the same place. Genuinue DS-2CD2342WD-I should be £130ish including VAT so don't pay £180 people are asking. I personally would get 7716NI-E4/16P, then you can add a few cameras later if need be. You can start with 2x6TB and add 2x6TB later if you feel you need more storage that way.

I see the 2CD2342WD is a turret. Was after a dome to hide the direction. What advantages do the turrets have as I've noticed a few people recommend them.

It's well documented here, use the search button. Domes won't hide direction that well, especially at night, if you have 10 cameras with blind spots at certain areas then that's an issue.

DS-2CD2142FWD-I is the dome. There are pro and cons for both turret, dome and bullet.
