Help connecting SRICam direct to iPad.

Hello all,
New here, in desperation! I am trying to connect my Sricam SP005 over Wifi, direct to my iPad, not going through the home network.
It is working with our internet network via the router but I want to take it outdoors spotting wildlife with my iPad, where there is no internet connection.
There are loads of videos on the subject but nothing seems to fit. I can't see the iPad in the Sricam app and I can't see the camera on the iPad without the router.
Please can someone help before I give up completely.

Study this if you haven't cliff notes.
Avoid Wifi for cams, they need power anyway, so use a POE cam.
Definitely avoid Sricams, network security holes galore.

Thanks for that. Its just that's the one I have already. What are POE cams? Sorry to be dumb.

Poe ... Power over Ethernet.

The Ethernet connector provides both power and the Ethernet data signals.
