Please post your video and image settings. How many watts (or even better lumens) is your light bulb? Judging from the various light shades on the cars, there seem to be various light sources on the road that greatly help the road view. However when you turn off your light bulb, the contrast between the road and your garden is very high. What are your WDR settings?

I have both the newer DS-2CD2385G1-I (1/2.0" sensor) and the older DS-2CD2385FWD-I (1/2.5" sensor) 8MP cameras.

Both were placed in the same spot as I had upgraded the cameras. eg: on house looking at driveway/street/etc.

My verdict is the larger sensor 1/2.0" is a significant improvement at night & was worth the extra $. Running 1/100 shutter speed @ night and the exposure could be mistaken for a cheaper camera's 1/25 setting.

Also being a larger sensor field of view (width) is also slightly wider too.

IMHO 4k and a 1/2" sensor do not go well together, especially at night. From the link: Color: 0.008 Lux @ (F1.2, AGC ON), 0.014 Lux @ (F1.6, AGC ON)
