Hikvision 32 channel nvr can only recognize 16 cameras

I have a Hikvision 32 channel NVR with 16 poE ports. It was working with 28 cameras fine for about 5 months, then for some reason it will only recognise 16 cameras total. Dome are connected to the 16 PoE ports and others are on separate PoE switches. Total recognised cameras is 16. Anyone experienced this?

Are the cameras that are recognizable
1) on the POE switch only
2) on the POE connected directly to the NVR only
3) both the POE switch and the NVR

If the answer is 2, can you access the cameras on the switch from a PC ?
