TL;DR: Upgraded to AcuSense NVR (DS-7608NXI-I2/8P/S (E)), human/vehicle detection works in Event Viewer but not showing as tags/markers in playback timeline on IVMS, Hik-Connect, or HikCentral Lite. Am I missing a setting or is this a limitation?

Hoping you guys can help me out here. I recently upgraded my NVR to an AcuSense model — specifically the DS-7608NXI-I2/8P/S (E). V5.04.050

I went with the AcuSense version mainly to give some of my older cameras access to AI features without having to replace them. (Though I later found out this model doesn’t support AI features on 8MP cameras, which was a bit of a surprise.)

Here’s what I’ve done so far:
  • Enabled the VCA engine on the NVR and set it to Motion Detection 2.0 with Human/Vehicle filtering.
  • Applied it to 3 cameras that are configured to record on motion events.

The NVR itself is in the basement and I rarely use it locally. Almost all of my reviewing is done through:
  • Web Browser
  • Hik-Connect mobile app
  • IVMS-4200
  • Recently testing out HikCentral Lite
What I was expecting: when playing back recordings, I thought I’d see clear tags or timeline markers whenever AI detected a human or vehicle. But right now, it seems to record the events without actually tagging them in playback.

Interestingly, if I go into the Event Viewer in the web browser, it does show human/vehicle detections with the associated video clips. So the detection is clearly happening, just not surfacing in the playback timeline the way I expected.

Has anyone run into this? Is there a setting I’m missing to get AI tags to show up in playback across the different clients (IVMS, mobile app, etc.)? Or is this just a limitation of this NVR model/software?
