Hikvision DS-2CD2420F-IW bad focus

Hello,

Just bought 2 pieces for indoor location, made the same setup & parameters & connection method for both of them and noticed the bad focus for one camera.
Next day returned to seller and exchanged the problematic one, restart testing and same result.
Conclusion - from three camera only one shows what seems to be a good picture quality.
I'll return also the 3rd camera and ask for a refund this time.

Any one noticed the same problem on this camera model?
Any idea what else should I try?

Did you take the plastic film off the lens?
Or check that the lens does not have any smudges on it?
On that model there is no lens cover, so it's a bit vulnerable to contamination.

They came with no plastic film on the lens. Sure no smudges/dust on them, out from the box right on the testing shelf.
I've just rechecked now to be 200% sure...

When I inspected now from close distance with my phone's flashlight, I've noticed some glare reflection from the lens, the good one has some purple glare and the bad one has some white glare.

take it apart and refocus the lens. or send it back.

I also thought that will be the last thing to do, but opening the case means loose the warranty.

you never had a warranty to begin with.

Seller gets another cam from the shelf, same blurry shit. Gets a third one, bingo, a good one!
Seller: "Do you want this one?"
Me: "No, I want my money back ..."
So, 5 cams, 3 with bad focus and 2 ok.

So, 6 cams, 4 with bad focus and 2 ok.

the problem is not the camera, its the seller.
Yes, there are some cams that come with bad focus from the factory. But you will never have a 70 percent poor focus rate from hik..this seller must be getting rejects and passing them along to you.
