HikVision NVR don't see the ip cams -SOLVED-

Hi to the forum, this is my first post

I've completed an ip cams setup using the following items
NVR: HIKVISION DS7608Ni-E1 http://www.hikvision.com/europe/products_show.asp?id=9868
CAMERA: DS-2CD2232-I5 (2 pieces) http://www.hikvision.com/en/us/products_show.asp?id=9120
POE SWITCH: TL-SG1008P 8 port (4 port POE) http://www.tp-link.it/products/details/?categoryid=233&model=TL-SG1008P

The poe switch is located 30m away from the modem router of my ISP company and connected to it through a CAT5e cable
The NVR is connected to the poe switch via a NON poe port through CAT5e cable
The two ip Cams are connected to the poe switch via POE ports through CAT5e cables

The problem:
I can reach the cameras and the NVR in my lan by tiping the given ip in the browser
192.168.1.10 for the nvr
192.168.1.71 1st camera
192.168.1.72 2nd camera

BUT the NVR doesn't see the two ip cams even if I add manually the two ip addresses of the camera

Any helps from someone that uses a similar setup?
Thanks in advance, Emanuel

Can you see the cameras on the network using HikTools SADP?

A screenshot of the camera configuration in the NVR and the SADP screen would help provide some feedback.

Hello Alastair,
I'll post some screenshot later today, tnx

Yesterday I tried another thing:
I've connected one of the two cameras to the poe switch through a very short cat6 cable (1,5mt long), and it works!
The other cam, just mounted on the wall outside and connected to the poe switch with the same type of cat6 cable (but 10m long) is not reachable by the nvr

Could the cable length be the problem?
Yhanks, Emanuel

Cable length should not be a problem.
Your 8 port Gigabit PoE switch has 4 ports that support the correct standard and should work fine with the correct cables up to 100m in length.
Compatibile con i PDs IEEE 802.3af, espande la rete domestica e aziendale
But it does seem likely that there is a problem with the cable.
PoE requires that the cables and the plugs have all 4 pairs of wires connected and available.

OK Alastair

I'll plug again the cable checking if there are mistakes
Do I have to follow a specific pinout or the usual T568B is ok?

Hi Emanuel,

Why are you using a POE switch when the NVR has POE camera inputs ?

Are you using the Hikvision plug and play and protocol to setup the cameras on the NVR ?

Have you inputted the cameras passwords on the NVR camera setup menu ?

Regards
Paul

The NVR doesn't have PoE, that's why he's using a PoE switch.

The cameras normally default to plug and play when you first connect them too.

It's clearly a cable problem as Emanuel has found out.

The NVR Emanuel quoted is POE - check out the spec online plus I am using the same NVR.

Where does
Emanuel say it is a cable problem, I read his last post as wired as T568B

The online specs at the quoted link cover all the model variations in that series - we don't know which is in use, but the use of an external PoE switch suggest it's not a PoE variant.
DS-7604/08/16NI-E1/4P(-E2/8P)/A
My guess is that there will be a problem found with one of the crimps.

Back again

I made two cables wiring T568B crimped ok, no possibles mistake in wiring
Connected the two cameras in two POE ports of the switch
SADP looks like this:

I take a picture of NVR software screen and looks like this:

The yellow triangle if clicked shows: "unknown error"

The NVR has not POE switch built in that's the reason I'm using an external POE switch
I really don't know what to do know
Last thing to know it's that the cameras come from Honk Kong and NVR was purchased in Italy where I live
It could be a problem regarding firmware versions or something similar?
Thanks, Emanuel

Set the camera from Hikvision to ONVIF protocal, if you get an image then its a region miss-match.

Does the camera still work OK with a short cable?
Do you have a 12v power supply to use for the camera, and connect the camera to your router or another switch?

Hello there

FINALLY PROBLEM SOLVED

There was no mistakes in cabling , bad crimps or similar
The issue was in the PROTOCOL type as stated by Whoslooking
Onvif works flawlessly instead of Hikvision that gives errors in the connection

So changing the protocol to Onvif when using a "european" HIK nvr with chinese cameras could solve the problem
Thanks to everybody for the precious help
All the best, Emanuel
