I don’t know why but the ability to put in additional drives on the elite desk has me mesmerized. Don’t really need raid 1 with video recordings, so what is the real benefit? Optionality

The extra total capacity, you cannot have double total storage. Additionally you can upgrade your total capacity significantly cheaper. For example if you start with a 4 terabyte drive and then you realize you need another 4 terabytes you can just add a second drive without having to buy an 8tb drive.
