I Ordered an Axis Communications Axis Q1808-LE Camera

Ok, I got the camera up and running. It actually was fairly easy using the Axis utility program. Here is the first photo of the house across the street. There is a whole lot of tuning you can do with this camera and it will take me a little time for me to get used to it. This will make a nice base picture and to see I will how much I can improve on it. I will try to get a night picture tonight.

Here is tonight's picture of that area taken around 7:15PM local time. It does light up the area pretty well. Looking at it with the naked eye it is pretty dark. You can even see the area under the bushes. I will leave it like this until I get the camera mounted in its permanent spot. The camera is showing a lot of promise.

That's a great imagine. How much dialing in did you have to do? I'd be interested to see just how good of a picture you can get at night. This is great any better would be a huge plus.

And somebody's pickup needs a good wash.

Yes, I can get a picture from the 5442 S3 from last night. I will get it up sometime today. The settings are not quite the same as I am used to with the Dahua and Hikvision. However, it did not take much to get used to them. I need to figure out if I can put the time on the picture.

OK, here is a photo from a 5442 Z4E-S3 from 7:15 last night for comparison to the photo in post 25. Actually, it is an EmpireTech IPC-B54IR-Z4E-S3. I have two of these to keep an eye on the sidewalk across the street. I have 4 more that are doing license plate duty.

What shutter speed for each night image?

The Axis one in post 25 is set at 1/250 day and night. The Dahua IPC-B54IR-Z4E-S3 is set at 1/120 for the night image, 1/250 for the daytime image.

I am still working on the Axis settings. One is trying to set the shutter speed differently during the day and during the night. I have not figured that one out yet.

the difference is even bigger that Color4K vs 5442 :)
bigger 4/3" sensor has even more light sensitivity with less noise..

Dahua need to upgrade sensors in 5442/5842..
they didn't that on S3 upgrade (only SOC/ISP were upgraded)..

Looking good my friend. Are you planning on running the Axis Plate Verifier with this one ? Not cheap for the license BUT it does do a good job. Of course if you're running them through OPENALPR or other Middleware, heck even NVR AI processing then no need.

I will be running it through my Hikvision NVR. I finally got the NVR port to read the camera today. It was not easy with all the possibilities. It seems that I have to use "root" for the name instead of say "admin". For the time being I am limited to 2MP and no way to zoom the varifocal in or out with the NVR. I do not think it likes my current ONVIF connection. The camera works fine when I hook it up directly to my LAN line.

If I could use say 192.168.1.XXX for the port address, I think that might work better. But so far, I cannot make that work. I am using port number 192.168.254.XX to make it work like all my other cameras are using. I am hoping to install it this Saturday. By the way this camera can be setup for 10MP. I am currently using 8MP/4K.

If I am reading everything correctly, it looks like I have to add a "ONVIF media profile" to get this camera to work correctly on my NVR. I have never had to do this before, so I have something else to learn. I don't even know what a media profile is.

Edit: Looks like profile T would work for me after a little research. Now I have to figure out how to add this.
