Hi All!

I ve been using Blue Iris for 4 years with my old (7yrs) i3-4130 based desktop. I m using 16 IP camera (4 4mp + 12 2mp) which give me at least 20-25% load. Also I m using this pc for browsing and other light activities. This pc now gives me at least once a week random shutdown and its very annoying. I m very content with the performance of my old i3-4130 but now I'm planning to build (with tight budget) a new pc with intel 10th gen Pentium G6400 w/ Quick Sync with the same performance as my old processor which my friend offer to me for half the price. the only missing feature is
Intel Set instruction AVX, AVX2, F16C and FMA3.
are this relevant to Blue Iris? or this will be even work? tnx P.S I dont plan to upgrade my IP camera.

Gigabyte B85m HD3
8Gb Hyper X Kingston
1 TB main Drive
4 TB purple WD for storage.

I'm not sure anybody knows how important those instructions are for Blue Iris.

Regardless, I would not recommend a new build with a Pentium G6400. You can likely get a higher performing PC for less money through ebay, at least if you live in the US or a region with a decent second-hand market for old workstation machines.

Here is the information for BI as posted on this site:

Some models to search for:

6th generation - For H.265 hardware acceleration

i7-6700
i5-6600
i5-6500
i5-6400

4th generation - Often much cheaper, but nearly the same performance

i7-4790
i7-4770
i5-4590
i5-4570
i5-4460
i5-4430

i7-3770
i5-3570
i5-3550
i5-3470
i5-3450

4 GB of memory is sufficient for a smaller system (4 or fewer cameras) but 8 GB is recommended as a minimum for most.

Systems with a "T" suffix on the CPU (e.g. i5-6500T) are underpowered versions designed to fit in smaller cases and meet stricter energy-usage requirements. These are significantly less bang for your buck.

Specific CPU recommendations include the following.

Best performance:

i9-10900K (10 cores / 20 threads)*
i9-10850K (10 cores / 20 threads)*
i7-10700K (8 cores / 16 threads)*
i7-10700 (8 cores / 16 threads)*
i9-9900K (8 cores / 16 threads)

Great performance:

i5-10600K (6 cores / 12 threads)*
i5-10600 (6 cores / 12 threads)*
i5-10500 (6 cores / 12 threads)*
i5-10400 (6 cores / 12 threads)*
i7-9700K (8 cores / 8 threads)
i7-8700K (6 cores / 12 threads)
i7-8700 (6 cores / 12 threads)
i5-9600K (6 cores / 6 threads)
i5-8600K / i5-8400 (6 cores / 6 threads)

Good performance:

i3-10320 (4 cores / 8 threads)
i3-10300 (4 cores / 8 threads)
i3-10100 (4 cores / 8 threads)
i7-7700 / i7-6700 (4 cores / 8 threads)
i3-8350K / i3-8100 (4 cores / 4 threads)
i5-7600 / i5-6600 (4 cores / 4 threads)
i5-7500 / i5-6500 (4 cores / 4 threads)
i5-7400 / i5-6400 (4 cores / 4 threads)

I should probably take the "Specific CPU recommendations" list out of the wiki at this point, since I haven't updated it in years and nearly any modern CPU is perfectly viable anymore thanks to sub streams. Even the pentium G6400 would have some value, although it is really similar to a 6th gen i3 in terms of performance. Not something I'd spend money on to buy at retail price.

as I said in OP my old i3 4130 which is a 4th Gen intel processor has the same performance with newer Intel Pentium G6400 which is a 10th Gen processor. I m currently running 16 IP camera with 4MP camera and 2MP with only 20-25% CPU load using i3 4130. the only missing with Pentium G6400 is Intel Set instruction AVX, AVX2, F16C and FMA3 which I dont know how relevant with regard to Blue Iris.

I m from Philippines and Company Desktop machines are used till they nearly die. I m currently in tight budget because of pandemic and the closest to cheapest Intel processor is i3 10100f which doesnt have onboard graphics/Quick Sync and the one with the On board graphics version is 70% more expensive than 2nd hand G6400 which my friend is trying to sell to me. As I said I only use my PC for for Blue Iris Surveillance and Browsing.

Keep in mind that with the substreams option now available in BI, onboard graphics and quicksync isn't needed anymore.

In many instances, the CPU% used to offload the video to the onboard graphics is more than the CPU% savings obtained offloading.

Further, recent updates in BI have made hardware acceleration problematic, so many here do not even use hardware acceleration anymore.

I have over 30 cams and the CPU% went down turning hardware acceleration off. I even disabled the onboard GPU to prove to myself it isn't needed....and it isn't.
