I just noticed something very important. I put my camera back to firmware General_IPC-HX5XXX-Volt_Eng_N_Stream3_V2.800.15OG000.0.T.200814.bin.
Just waiting for new one. I had a known good daytime setup on this one.
I noticed that if I was on the playback window with the sd card files listed and ran a test it wouldn't show up until I clicked away then back.
This would make you think you didn't get a trip.
This was in IE with plugin. Don't know if its only with this firmware and browser or not.
I ran most of my tests on 5/29 firmware with someone watching live so I think my results for me are ok.

I am experiencing exactly the same issue with night time IVS. Already made a list of things I’ll test based on this awesome thread so there is hope it will work:)

I have IPC-T5442T-ZE (turret) with IVS working fine during day but at night it acts like in @bickford videos. FW: V2.800.0000000.16.R 2020-05-29

At the same time, I have IPC-D5442E-ZE (dome) with FW V2.800.0000000.10.R 2019-11-18 that has IVS rules working great at night even at edges so that is good news, it means it is very likely a FW or settings problem. I’ll do all kinds of test you described on past 3 pages and post again my results when night comes.

Do you or anyone have a link to this 10R firmware? I'd like to test it on one of my 5442s.

Sadly, I don't. It came with this FW installed and I can't find it on https://www.dahuasecurity.com/support/downloadCenter/firmware?child=161&page=1
Nothing here as well: DahuaWiki for "5442 or "N45DJ62".
Even if this fixes the IVS problems at night, it is so old it will probably reintroduce the problems with IR overexposing objects near camera that the 5442 cameras used to have.

Maybe @EMPIRETECANDY can help us and share the correct download link.

I did part of my planned test of the IVS and sadly during night time it still doesn’t work on T5442T-ZE (V2.800.0000000.16.R 2020-05-29) most of the time, while it works very well on D5442E-ZE (V2.800.0000000.10.R 2019-11-18). I was only testing IVS and did not check SMD or SmartIR.

Here is the list of things I tried:
  • I updated the firmware of T5442T-ZE to the one posted here: IPC-T5442T-ZE latest new firmware 20200825
  • I did 4 factory resets with an additional power cycle each time.
  • I switched to a different scene – location.
  • I tried with IVS rules centered as opposed to having a lot of them closer to edges.

I did NOT yet do global IVS config, I’ll try to get to it tomorrow. The only time that T5442T-ZE IVS detected me was when I was dead-centered and it followed me out of frame while the dome always picked me up as soon as I enter the frame even on far edges (triggering intrusion or tripwires). I had a vertical tripwire in the center of the frame, a zig-zag tripwire close to the edge and an intrusion box pretty much around whole area on both cameras.

Andy, do you have a V2.800.0000000.10.R 2019-11-18 for T5442T-ZE that I can safely download? I'll give it a try.

I still have the same issues as you.
I agree it is best to wait for Andy.
I looked at the Dahua France file DH_IPC-HX5XXX-Volt_MultiLang_PN_Stream3_V2.800.0000000.10.R.191118.bin
Also saw the same file on Index of /Dahua/kamerove_systemy/Firmware/IPC-HDBWxxxx/IPC-HDBW5442E-ZE
The checksums match so I believe they have not been tampered with.
Whether this firmware is ok for our camera is another matter. Best to ask Andy.
If I were willing to risk it I would get it from here Index of /images/Files/Firmware
Just do a search for hx5xxx and you will see it.

DH_IPC-HX5XXX-Volt_MultiLang_NP_Stream3_V2.800.0000000.10.R.191118.bin

If you notice the PN is changed to NP this file will produce a different checksum.
This doesn't matter, I think it just shows which is default PAL or NTSC and I've always been able to change it in the camera.

I was testing the 5442T-ZE and the 5442E-ZE.
There is no difference between the two. Actually, in my case, the bullets suffered even more but I blame the settings and not the particular cams.

What I did find out, is that playing with the exposure made a great difference. From not detecting at all, I could get 100% detection.
I do not have total darkness so I did have enough leverage to play with exposure and gain. Not sure it can help everyone.
Not surprising but as the image got better, the IVS detection got better

My Bullet works but its looking in the opposite direction with a much more open view.
Can you suggest a exposure setting that worked for you? I tried 1/60 and even auto.

oh, and about the myth that the AMD got better in the latest version (20200825):
it did get better in a way. before, I used to get SOME SMD events from cats and from my family dog.
now, it never misses the family dog and it's capturing a lot of tree movements as well.
the only difference I can see now is the green square that is showing the moving tree....

Normally, there is no point to suggesting a working setup. What was found perfect for that cam would not necessarily work for my other cams, let alone for you.
That most problematic cam preformed better not set on manual but on shutter priority, customized range.
