Do NOT downgrade from V4 to V3. Otherwise your NVR might not be functional!

I have a DHI-NVR4208-4KS2 NVR. I downgraded it from 4.000.0000001.5 to V3.216.0000003.0. After downgrade, I notice the following:

1. NVR gets into boot loop.
2. If I power cycle it several times, NVR might boot up successfully.
3. Once it's up, network seems to be working. ConfigTool can detect it. COnfigTool reports correct software version and model number. But I can't change anything.
4. Browser fails to connect to NVR.
5. No camera signal is seen.
6. If I try to login, it hangs, and eventually reboots.
7. I try multiple default passwords, nothing works.
8. I try press reset button on motherboard while booting up, it has no effect.

There are other folks experiencing this symptom. I don't know if it's specific to this NVR model or between these two version of firmware. But I would strongly suggest not to downgrade your NVR from V4 to V3.

Yes it is possible. When you connect via P2P with SmartPSS, you can open device website from Device config page. SmartPSS acts like proxy.

Good grief! Thousand thanks, new info and it indeed redirects browser to 127.0.0.1 and opens the NVR web UI.

I would like to set custom BLC area in a camera, this seems not to be possible even directly from NVR local UI if camera is connected in NVR Poe switch. Need to access cameras own web ui directly.. apparently?

@EMPIRETECANDY i have found problem/bug with auto rebooting and AI IVS parameters. If i set auto reboot on NVR4108-8P-4KS2 with this FW dissappaer check "send mail".

Hello .. Yesterday I updated my device NVR4208-8P-4KS2, but I want to go back to the old software ... I am currently using software version 4.001.0000000.1 assembly: 2020-3-19 ....... I downloaded the current version from the Dahua official site .... I have no idea why, but when I watch the recordings from a system that is configured to record only when motion is detected, each individual recording stops at the end, and I have to manually go to the next recording ... Before I installed this version of software yesterday, everything was great ...These Chinese can not do a decent update, like people ....With this update, when your system is set to record only when motion is detected, does the system automatically move to the next video when viewing the recordings, or do you need to move the pointer ? Thanks in advance :)

PS: When I watch online with the SMART PSS program, everything is as it should be ... Each new recorded video starts automatically without touching anything...

Awesome, Awonson! Just noticed that NVR does not found newest FW with "manual check". I had 18th dec 2019 in, and after check it says "you have newest version" even there was 19th march 2020 on Dahua website available.

What is confusing is that www.dahuasecurity.com offers 19th march 2019 as newest firmware on their website. I got 24th april 2020 from Finnish importer and now this 7th of july from this forum. Why isn't the newest on Dahua website?
I asked Dahua support about it and their ridiculous response was it would be too much traffic on their website to offer regular firmware updates to its customers...

Just updated to V4.001.0000000.4 (many thanks to awonson for the link). I first updated from V3.216.0000003.0 to V4.001.0000000.1 but was a disaster: live video not smooth and sometime freezing, playback always stuck when something crossing IVS lines and so on. Now all seem to be working good but I need some days to test every thing. The only difference I noticed is the 4x playback: on V3 was smooth while now is jerky, but this is a minor thing. BTW, does anyone know how to avoid to have selected the first four cameras when entering search page? I was used to enter the page with no camera selected and was much better since I normally select just one camera, anyway...

One last thing: I was very happy with V3 interface but I had a very strange behavior: every month, starting from 20th, I had many system crashes til the end of the month. Starting from the 1st of the next month, crashes suddenly disappeared until the next 20th. Crazy! I tried many time to reset all the system to factory default but nothing. I hope that with V4 the system will be more stable.

Sorry if it's a tad OT, but does anyone know the last firmware version compatible with the non-4KS2 NVR4208-08P? The one I've got is running a firmware from 04-28-2015 (version 3.200.0000.8.R) and I can't seem to find anything but support for the newer NVR4208-08P-4KS2.

@ben_r, is the firmware one of these? They are listed on the Dahua Wiki Firmware page here. Maybe @EMPIRETECANDY can help??

Those NVR4208-8P is bit old, dahua not make any newer updating after it.
Can try this one, DH_NVR4xxx_EngFrnSpn_NP_V3.203.0000.0.R.20170612.bin

I think you cannot downgrade from v3 to v4 in the usual way. What was the V4 did you upgrade? Only V4.001.0000000.4.R.200707 did work in an acceptable way on my DHI-NVR4208-4KS2. Verify if this version is compatible with your device.
