Known around here
That is amazing that those buildings caught on fire. Pacific Coast Highway is behind them and the ocean and sand is in front of them.
Saw a mile long strip of very expensive beachfront homes all torched on the north end towards Malibu, same thing, feet from the water, down below PCH
Each of these location pins represent places where SoCal Edison has TURNED OFF POWER...

Crazy images reminding me of Hawaii fires ..
was looking for better satellite images / aerial images .. from what I have heard large sections near the mountains have evacuation orders, and now there is a fire in Hollywood

Where I am at, I have power, and the winds are calm this morning. The winds are supposed to pick up tonight though.
I noticed a majority of the cars Cal Fire bulldozed to the side of the road were EVs, specificaly Teslas.
PGE and SCE intentionally shutdown parts of the grid during red flag fire warning days due to high winds, which includes public and private EV charging stations.
People driving EVs are stuck or have to abandon their cars on the road blocking evacuation and emergency vehicle routes, not to mention what happens when an EV battery is placed in a fire.
God forbid I ever get stuck behind one during a mass evacuation.
