Malibu Fires

I wonder if the next shoe to drop will be covering all of the uninsured structures?
Thanks to insurance company lobbyists and campaign contributions, insurance companies are incorporated in each state. This allows an insurance company to declare bankruptcy in one state or simply pull out without affecting the larger corporation. Then the insurance liability falls on the taxpayers. So in effect they are all uninsured properties.

I bet the looters are shaking in their Air Jordans after they watched the 6 pm pst news conference and heard LAPD chief say "looters will be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."

Is that just for this week? Theives are going to get so confused

Biden says feds will cover 100% of fire response costs in Southern California

"I told the governor and local officials, spare no expense"
the president urged Congress to "step up." "I'm going to make an appeal right now to the United States Congress," he said.
"To the firefighters and first responders, you are heroes." <I didn't hear any of that when some got fired over the covid vax>

Looking at it from a different angle than the North Carolina comparison, this "free" money will come from deficit spending, which will add to inflation. That means we will all be robbed to bail out Newsom, the incompetent DEI leaders in LA, and all the idiots who voted them in. I wonder if the next shoe to drop will be covering all of the uninsured structures?

Blue State run by Pelosi's Newsom .. of course there's a lot of money available from Biden to Newsom .. if Newsom takes a hit, that's a major potential Democratic Presidential Candidate down ..

Team Red needs to pour gasoline on the fire to turn around California back to a swing state, otherwise it will remain captured for team Blue

Man saved his own home .. that his father built in 1960 ..

stated he saw NO fire fighters, and that had there been fire fighters active there they could have save the houses near him as each house caught fire with a simple ember ..

Man deserves a medal.

He is right, the taxes if he had to rebuild would be ginormous.

Zillow Est Market Value: $3.1M
Assessed Value: $266K
Current Annual Taxes: $3.6K
Est Annual Taxes at Current Market Value: $42K

Unless CA passes a bill to allow homeowners to keep their original assessed value (or at least the value not including the land) after rebuilding, people will not be able to afford it.

In California, when there are significant changes like a new build or major renovation, a reassessment is required to determine the property's new value. The Los Angeles County Assessor's Office evaluates the changes to the property, appraising both the full market value of the property (land and improvements) and the market value of the land alone as of the date of construction completion. The value of the new improvements to the property is determined based on these appraisals

The insurance companies will go belly-up. No way that they can cover so many homes and businesses at once. Even if they do not go belly-up, then rates will increase dramatically all over the country to pay for it.
I heard from a talk radio host yesterday that Newlittle vetoed a bill that would allow the insurance companies to raise rates according to new risks or increased risks (winds, drought, underbrush, staffing funds diverted to Ukraine, surplus equipment sent to Ukraine, etc.) so many have cancelled and/or pulled out of Kommiefornia.

If so, I really can't blame them. They are not a charity and cannot stay in business and pay claims if they cannot REASONABLY and EQUITABLY APPLY rates according to risks, etc.

Hmmm now it makes sense....

The Resnicks donated 4 million dollars, saved Newsom from recall. Donated again to his campaign recently. Newsoms largest donor. They own 57% of all water rightsThe Resnicks own the Wonderful co. (Fiji water, Haro tangerines) Newsom has wineries In total, they used 150 Billion gallons, compared to LAs 160B gal in a year.

They use their control of water rights to push small farmers out of business, then they buy the farmland on the cheap. They have impoverished many small towns in the Central Valley. I’ve been reading reporting about this issue for the better part of a decade.

And the head of the water department in LA makes $750,000 or so and no water to be found in the hydrants…Let’s also talk about why California pumps clean water out to the ocean and how they curtail water to other farmers

Perhaps the lack of water storage and dumping bazillions of fresh water into the ocean is a conscious decision? Mebbe..

I remember a time not so long ago it seems where 65% of our nation's produce came from CA.

I wonder what that figure is now?
