Keep in mind Hik's Lux ratings for this camera are a t F1.6 (colour Lux 0.05)

Hik 4MP exaples here are rated 0.01 @ F1.2 (bigger iris) however this PTZ out performs the 4MP.

The new 3 & 5MP are 0.005Lux @ F1.2 (more iris light) so you can't directly compare them on paper although a rough conversion, there is about 0.8 iris difference - i.e. F1.2 is about 80% more light then F1.6 so if you adjust the Lux rating by 80% then we're looking at 0.008Lux for this PTZ - dosn't seem so bad to me...

On last capture, PTZ looking up the road from the other night - easier to compare with the 4MP.

@FrankMCN - great info thanks. I may just get one to see - I am still running the older 3MP turrets, if it is an improvement on them - then I should be ok!!!

Way better then the old 3MP's, I had those all over and the 4MP was better then those making colour night vision a real possiblity - the jump in night time IQ with this PTZ which may well share the same or similiar sensor as the new Easy IP3.0 camera's is a similar of not bigger leap.

@FrankMCN - The street looks like you are in the UK - my road pretty similiar just wider, the grass on the pavement darkens the scene quite a bit on the older cameras. My street light levels are probably lower than yours due to being wider road, hence light poles are much higher.

Yeah I live on the Wirral, the lights on this street are those dim amber sodium lights (you know the ones that start of red when they first come on) - old fashioned concrete lamp posts - one every hundred yards or so.

But don't let the pictures fool you - the street looks better illuminated under both the 4MP camera and PTZ shots then in real life, reality is about half of what the the 4MP looks like.

Interesting Bick. I recently got a camera (different model) and the IR cut filter failed within a week. It is a DS-2cd2542fwd-is. One out of there I bought failed. Thinking Hikvision may have a manufacturing issue on some of their newer cams.

Yes the dealer said to me there is lot of problems with ir cut filter ... This is the third time I return a camera for this kind of problem...

Strong argument for buying from dealer. Returning my camera bought on AliExpress is economically unfeasible.

Thats why for PTZ camera i dont use aliexpress.

aliexpress is good for the price but thats all ...

HIKVISION is better than Dahua , Dahua firmware sucks .. I have 3 news dahua camera and problem to fix focus on camera thats a shame.

What are the symptoms of it failing- particularly it fails with the filter disabled? I'm guessing if it fails with the filter switch on you lose night IR capability?

You can have a pink image when the camera switch to day mode or a very dark image or black image in night mode with ir on

I got it working yesterday. There is an on/off checkmark option on the camera's config page (not BI's config, but the camera's config page). Then make sure the trigger setting are appropriate to catch movement -- and autotrack works.

Tried to activate here but nothing ...

On the trigger tab, hit the config button next to motion sensor. Should have two sliders for min object and contrast along with a value for min duration. I'd take a pic, but don't have a print screen on this computer.
