Mini PTZ camera impressions! 2015 PTZ camera of the year? AVOID THIS CAMERA

I am also extremely happy with mine. Time will tell

My License Plate Reader cam is now set to a fixed location with manual focus - so I can't really see much going wrong with it. It didn't need to have PZT, but having it sure made it easier to set up (finding the right spot that works, zoom and focus)

My backyard cam actually gets moved around. I have a couple of areas that I need to cover to track my granddaughter :) and at night I move it to cover our rear door.

These things don't cost much more than a Foscam. If I get a year out of it - it will be money well spent, but I think they will last longer...

I'm getting great image quality

Wait a minute...

Has anybody checked the actual video bitrate of this mini PTZ?

Here is a comparison with my Hikvision's DS-2CD2142FWD-IS:

Same video configuration:

View attachment 6708

Method 1: Check bitrate through network (DU-meter):

Code:
Huisun: 0.88 Mbps average
Hik : 4.62 Mbps average

Method 2: Save video (10 minutes - NO REENCODING) with BI:

Code:
Huisun: 57 Mb
Hik : 313 Mb

Method 3: Check files (Media Info):
Code:

... and I was wondering why I was the only one to find the image quality awfull.......:sad2: Macroblocks all throughout the picture, especially in dark areas and at night. I suspect Huisun to virtually improve image quality with 3D optimization, ie average of several successive frames. This may works with still images, but not when there is movement.

This is not HD.

Sorry to say that, but what are your numbers, you who claim image quality is marvellous??? or... what am I doing wrong?? Is my camera defective?

Maybe I am too much used to HD movie processing, that I am doing everyday... Remember old DVDs that required at least an 8Mbps bitrate.... Whith Huisun, we are talking 10 times less! with a 2Mpix image vs 0.3Mpix !

It goes without saying that I tried all possible configurations from low bitrate, variable encoding to highest bitrate (10240 Kbps that turnsout to be about 2Mbps) and constant encoding.

Please give your numbers using any method.

This is a great test, but why not just compare actual results then looking at the numbers. In my first post this is what I said "It's as good as my 3MP Hikvision during daylight and on par with 4MP, although 4MP has a just slight edge due to higher pixel count and much better at night time then any Hikvision I have due to having high power LEDs" and I still feel the same about it. 4MP cam was also improved a bit during latest firmware, but it has much weaker IRs and as a result it can't compete with Huisun at night. Once again for the price and features this cam is wonderful, but, no, it's not going give you a perfect crystal clear HD picture. My goal was primarily to improve night vision where it delivers. So look at the sample videos and make your own judgement if this cam is for you.

Nevermind, need to retest it. My NVR overwrites the settings, so it was using higher fps/bit rate.

I rerun the test and confirm there is an issue, but it has something to do with the firmware and not with IQ. Will update once I find the issue.

I personally don't care about numbers. I can see my nose hairs crystal clear from 30ft. away! For the money, totally worth it!

Regarding the default image quality of my 2 Huisun Mini PTZ cameras, I would agree that the image was not good until I changed the Max. Bitrate setting to 8192 Kbps and Bitrate type to Constant. With these settings, my 2 Mini PTZ cameras look as good as my HikVision 2032 cameras during the daylight hours.

How you guys testing these?

You can simply use Live page, click record button to start recording then click it again to stop it, it will save video file. Then open properties of that file. Basically, it doesn't record at full bitrate that you have set. For instance I have it set at 8000 and instead maximum it recorded was 4000. But if you set 4000, I am getting 800. Constant or VBR doesn't seem to matter.

I'm running default settings and mine looks great! I'm wondering, did your guys cams come in blue and white box? Cam have no name?

So yeah, if you set maximum bitrate (10240) @ 30 fps, the recorded bitrate is ~8000 and again doesn't matter whether it's VBR or Constant. Obviously, it's some sort of bug.

How do you set the BI home button?

If you mean that 'absolute' grid button, I haven't got that to work on the Hui...the manual says only some cams support that function.

No more e-packet shipping! Huge increase in shipping! SAD! Wont be buying anymore.

Plus, doesn't DHL charge duty?
Only on two or more cams. I think value of $200 plus is req'd before duty kicks in.
