That's, got nothing to do with windows. You simply purchased a noisy powerhog.

I realize that. I got a Dell Precision T5400 that is ALOT more noisy than the ASUS win7 machine that I rarely turn on. The T5400 is a big power hogg. I also have an old Dell Optiplex 780 that I made into a NAS and it is whisper quiet and just sips power in comparison to the other machines.
