Mounting Turret Camera on Vertical Wall

I have a question as to the best/preferred method of mounting the Dahua IPC-HDW5231R-ZE on a wall.

Please see the attached figure. In the bottom right is the view I am looking for. The top left is the mounting position (red oval, looking left).

Would it be better to just mount the camera as is on the wall, turning the ball to the desired view, or use the bracket shown in the top right? The bracket would allow the camera to be hung like it was under soffit.

Pros and cons of each method?

using the wall mount bracket will give you some place to hide and waterproof the RJ45 connection

Thanks for replying EL-TE. That is a good point. I had bought both the bracket and the junction box. If I go the route of just placing the camera on the siding w/o the bracket, I would use the box. That way I can use conduit coming out of the box.

Was really hoping for some expert opinions one way or another.
 
It's more a question of your own preference and, maybe, WAF. Either the bracket or box will work fine, there's no "real" correct way, at least IMHO.

Here's a side wall set up. Cable coming out of our garage through the conduit to the camera. WAF was good!

The WAF outcome for myself is to vertically mount on the wall because the bracket would be too much. With this camera model will I be able to pan and tilt the camera to get the view that I want? The online reviews don't cover this and its just hard for me to visualize if this camera can swivel vertically and horizontally.

Yes ..it's a ball and can move in any direction once the set screw is lossened..

So as a follow-up to this - . If you were using a turret camera indoor on a standard drywall application, .you could easily mount the turret camera on the wall and swivel it to wherever you want hiding the wires inside of the wall?

I believe the camera mounting base has a slot cut in the outer ring to allow the cable to run outside of the mount, in case you wanted the pig tail on the outside of the wall for some odd reason.
