Getting the hang of it

i have 3 different dahua camera models that have different plugins for the web browser interface.

it is a real pain in the A to keep uninstalling and reinstalling the plugin when i want to configure or stream each camera in internet explorer (or any browser).

i do not have blue iris, but was wondering does that still rely on the plugin to set advanced settings in the camera like shutter speed, and % WDR, % NR, ect...?

How about the SmartPSS app from dahua, is that plug-in free for editing these settings?

BI does not use plugins. BI also does not do any camera configurations.

For my dahua cameras I just ignore the plugin and just go to the settings. I find that the plugin is used to help display the video. If you do not need the video, then skip the plug in.

I use BI for motion detection and other advanced features.

I use IE or Chrome for setting.

I didn’t realise that BI couldn’t configure camera settings? What is the point of all the drop down option when looking at the camera settings within BI?

Why are you uninstalling and reinstalling the plugins? You can have multiple plugins in the browser for different cameras.
PSS does not use plugins and you can not set shutter speed but are able to do WDR & NR.

I do agree that the plugins are a PITA at times, but after they get installed they should stay without reinstalling.

The newer firmware being released does away with plugins all together and allows Chrome, IE, Edge all to work without them.

I may be wrong about BI not being able to set camera settings. Specifically what tab do you use to set brightness, shutter speed, %NR.... in BI. Please provided a screen shot.

one plugin is not compatible with the other since the cameras are on different firmwares. i just get a black screen for the feed.

but i guess you are right, just ignore the feed and use the login to change settings.

which new firmware does away with the plugins? are they out for the 8232? 5231 and 5831?

it can configure some minor settings like brightness/contrast/ir/shutter gain for some cameras but not for most of the detailed settings. All pointless though. Set it in the camera interface.

The 5x3x models have a new one pinned at the top of Andy’s EmpireTech subforum, IIRC.

thanks.

i upgraded them all to the latest firmware and they seem to be compatible with each others plugins. all are dated sometime in january 2019
