A family member has a ds-7608n but this thing leaves a lot to desire in terms of motion alerts.

Is there an NVR that gives more control of say zone detection, object size etc...?

One major complaint from him is at night there are bugs that zip around around the camera at night and it drives him nuts. lol

nope. He would need to move to a vms with AI. Hik has an Deep Learning AI NVR but it has proven to be unreliable despite its false claims otherwise.

You can always experiment with “intrusion detection” under VCA to trigger an event to initiate recordings. Or at the minimum you can have it setup and utilize it for playback under “Smart playback” to filter recordings for events that have someone/something enter your designated area. I have this setup for a PTZ with smart tracking and it works quite well.

Hi @dannieboiz

Looks like that NVR has a alarm i/o ports - perhaps adding a couple of alarm sensors to the setup would be useful?
