Simple answer, don't use Chrome until Hik pull out there finger and sort full Chrome support.
They are in no hurry to resolve this it seems.

Yes, it is for the 2xxx models but more so the ones with zoom lenes.
Not seen one myself though.

Thanks for the quick response, Hikvision is not the only one having trouble with Chrome support at this point. I am waiting on fixes for several devices I use.

How did you confirm the support of H264+ ?? Is there a menu option to select it optionally? Can you see any difference in the storage requirements per ... say an hour of recording?

The rotate fuction allows you to "rotate" the image viewed in a vertical (portrait) way so that more space can be viewed. Imagine a corridor. There is no usefull information on the walls, but there is more information along the corridor i.e. it is better to view the corridor in a portrait way rather than in a landscape mode, hence the rotate mode of the camera image.
Hi, I swear rotate was on earlier versions hence my confusion.

There's a grey'd out tick box... when you plug the WDR cameras (I've only tried DS-2CD2042WD-I and DS-2CD2342WD-I so far) you can tick the box. I'm still playing but have only tried to save 30% of space and that seems to work fine. I'll try to really lower the bit-rate and see what happens. Ideally I want to set two of the cameras side-by-side one with H.264 and one H.264 both at same bit-rates and really lower it.

Got another DS-2CD2342WD-I arriving tomorrow so will hopefully be able to put them side-by-side then.

Can you upload two sample files (one of each)? I suspect simple preprocessing that mathematically improves compression (at best). They do similar stuff on the 4MP models where you can clearly see interpolation at times. That's not always better, especially if you're going for max details.

on the US site, the latest is v5.3.1_150410 - which is what I am running on my DS-2CD2042WD-I .. it has a bug on the snapshot portion - will only allow 640x320 resolution :) Hopefully 5.3.3 fixes it :)

Ah didn't know that. Mine came with v5.3.3
I run 3 Hikvision cameras; DS-2CD2732F-IS (V5.1.0 build 131202) and 2x DS-2CD2032-I (V5.2.0 build 140721)
Anyone got a link to download the "Baseline Firmware_IPC_En_V5.3.0 150513 (2XX2)(New)"
or can the v5.3.3 you linked over be used??

For some strange reason I can't get logged in or changed password on Hikvision member page

Thank you.

that works.. but also what I am running right now on the 3mp. the 4.1mp wdr has 5.3.1 which introuduced a bug to the snapshot - only allows 640x320 - hopefully 5.3.3 fixes that

I get that for digicap.dav that's buried at a deep level in my NAS folders.
Sometimes you need to dump the file in a folder near the top of your drive to avoid that error.
