Good evening! I have been looking for a good route to take for adding some cameras to my home. I am the only house on a dead end road surrounded by lots of land.

I already tried a kit and decided I want little more quality. I stared out with a Defender 8 Channel system which I promptly returned. I believe I have found the cameras I want to use but I wanted to check with some professionals before I have to do this a third time. I like the Hikvision DS 2CD2732 F IS and DS-2CD2032F-I. It gets pretty cold where I live, So I a little worried about that.I will probably start with four cameras two of the dome and two of the bullet since they have a pan and tilt option. Are these legitimate?

Now this is an IP camera and I have no existing cameras. I was going to buy a Hybrid DVR/NVR, but I am hoping someone can tell me if this is worth it or if I should just go with a straight NVR to save a few bucks. The only other camera
Type I may add assuming the Hikvision are as good as they seem to be is a Camera I can get a good long distance picture with.
And that brings me to my next question.... what is a decent NVR with at least 1 TB storage and 8 channels that I don't have to wait for a month for it to arrive from China :). I'd like to be able to remotely view and add other brand cameras and hopefully spend sub $400

Thank you!
Eric

Welcome to the forum. None of those cameras are motorized pan tilt.
You will not be able to update firmware or get support/warranty with those ebay cameras.
Unless you are very technical or know what you are doing, read the forum and your will find sources for US region cameras with warranty.
Dont buy a hybrid.

Thanks for the welcome. Do you know any good sources for the Hikvision (i've seen they make US versions but not where they sell them) or are you suggesting a different camera?

Look at the 2mp WDR or 4mp WDR hikvisions. See the nellys security section here or the milkisbad thread.

Im reading up on them now, I found a thread for it and it looks like people are buying from aliexpress... Do you receive support with those?

Those will be china region, no support, no warranty, no firmware upgrades. If you intend to use the camera with a hikvision nvr (as opposed to a third party vms like blue iris) then buy us region. You will regret buying china region if you dont know what you are doing. The result will be many hours spent on the forum and tons of frustration with the possibility of never resolving your issue.

Alright so I wound up buying a hikvision NVR, Western digital 2tb hard drive and two 2342WD-I 4MP WDR EXIR Turret IP Security Cameras to start. I dont have have my network set up yet so no remote viewing until tomorrow.

I am having a slight issue though. The one camera is cutting in and out with the night vision on. Other than that the cameras seem to be working fine.

any ideas?

Thank you,
-Eric

That's odd, didn't they just come out? And yes it is the 4 megapixel and I bought it from Nellys Security. So I hope it's a U.S. Model... Haha
