New RCA HSDB2A 3MP Doorbell IP Camera

PASSWORD to, that's what i missed. Its EZVIZ_serial number and EZVIZ_confirm code

I should've linked the 101 procedure. I just modified it by changing the SSID. Sorry for the pw. :)

When you connected to the AP softap_XXXXX, did you use softap_authcode as pw? If so, after you connect via batch config, you change the SSID, and then you don't have to do anything else. You start the wizard on the mobile app and it works like a brand new cam. The problem is only the SSID after the reset. You got to bring it back to VENDOR_xxxx so the mobile app finds it.

I think we need an IRC channel to discuss guys. That's what we used in the old days when forums were not there. They still exist btw, and are widely used in many communities.

It would be cool. :)
Are you from the IRC jumper days? :) Me too...

Can you try with Batch Config app, to see the live stream of the camera in the IMAGE-->IMAGE SETTINGS menu, where you configure the brightness, etc?

I see a white window in Image Settings no live view. But when i click in de batch config tool on live view I can see the stream. Could be that a reset will fix this. But it is not a big problem at the moment.

The FACTORY RESET is a must when you change to another vendor's firmware. It should be put in 101 @David L.

I am an old fidonet guy. Don't know if there's someone that remembers that period. Modems connecting at 1200/75 bits per second. :D

Oh yeah, I had 4 phones lines and one ADSL line (US Robotics) in to my house back in the day running a BBS. Ran a BBS before Hard Drive days even :) on Two double-sided 5 1/4 inch floppy drives. :)

Remember this notcher:

Yes I do remember. And that was advanced tech, I used tapes with my C64 for some years. Then I switched to C128D with my first floppy drive. And then the Amiga. :D

Modems: I didn't like USRobotics, I bought a Zyxel with LCD display 19200bps. :)

Here did the same in Chicago. Thinking it was first Commodore BBS maybe?

First BBS here was using a Commodore Pet Computer with two 5.25" drives and a few Ventel modems connected to a DIY'd auto phone line switcher.

Wanted multiple phone and "tapped" in to a bank of pay phone lines in a box near office. Played a bunch with telephone lines at the time.

Did end up move from the Pet to the C64, C128 and finally the Amiga and the Amiga Toaster. I have kept one old C64 and modded Amiga computer put in a larger case at the time. Helped a local TV station switch over to using the Amiga Toaster way long time ago for stock market reports.

At the time also did "bookeeping" with a Kaypro CPM "portable" computer (which was a tade heavy).

The good old times. At that time, you had to know what was an IRQ, extended memory, expanded memory, AT commands of modems, to make everything work fine. No Plug&Pray. :D

I created a telegram group: Videodoorbell Techs

Important note: The group is not meant to replace the discussion in this thread, that is, and will always be, the main source of all valuable information and further discussions. I created the group in case anyone would like to know other people better and talk about things not relevant to the subject of the thread. Sometimes we chat about things that are clearly out of topic, and that may hijack this wonderful thread.

Feel free to join. :)

I'm all for a discord or telegram group but I feel if we break away from this forum then people will lose the valuable info discussed on the chat client. This forum gives the same benefits as a telegram or discord with search feature and everything.

I added a note to my post to describe the purpose of that group. And I firmly disagree with you on your last statement: a forum and a chat tool like telegram are two very different things, that have very different purposes. I will always use this forum as the main source of information, but sometimes discussions here with some users look more like personal chats, and other times we like to talk about other technologies or sw that would be considered totally out-of-topic.

Not sure if anyone is using Kodi here. Kodi has been my replacement STB now for all of my Televisions (years now).

I can see the doorbell camera streaming fine with Kodi.

Found a plugin to enable a preview / steam RTSP. That and a mechanism to trigger a preview view via Home Assistant or Homeseer. Actually a couple of ways to do this.

You could then trigger a pop up windows in Kodi via a doorbell ring event or motion event via automation.

Would anyone be interested in a step by step posted here?

I used XBMC since the first versions, then Kodi. But in the end, last year I switched to Plex, I like the centralized architecture. Kodi's architecture is awful and difficult to maintain (artwork, thumbnails, etc.). Plex is really incredible, zero maintenance and I just setup a new client, open it, and don't have to configure anything. I used Plex Server on my Synology, but it was a pain, CPU was not good enough, I switched to Nvidia Pro 2019 in my living room, that acts both as PMS and client, and in other rooms I use Nvidia Shield 2019, pure client.

You can use Kodi as a Plex client. I think Kodi has a Plex plugin
