New RCA HSDB2A 3MP Doorbell IP Camera

Does this heat issue include The LaView halo one?

Those of you with Home Assistant, how were you able to expose the motion sensor?
- platform: hikvision
host: 192.168.1.xxx
port: ??
ssl: False
name: doorbell camera
username: admin
password: !secret camera_doorbell_password

I've tried a few variations of above with no success yet

Also, I thought that maybe the issue with Home assistant was that the surveillance center checkbox was not checked, but I cannot seem to be able to configure motion. I am unable to check any boxes

Mine are grayed out too in iVMS-4200, but I do not have Home Assistant to help you. I know several here do. Do a search in this thread for "home assistant motion" I saw a few post that may could help you.

So I got the Laview version of the doorbell today. Initially I had some trouble getting it connected to wifi through the app, but I eventually got it to work through AP mode. I upgraded the firmware to the latest (v5.2.4 190716) and ONVIF is working great. I can get ONVIF motion detection events from the camera's PIR and all is working as expected. I've actually written a small Python script to get these motion events into Home Assistant as well.

Has anyone found a way to track the actual doorbell button presses without using the app/cloud?
Would you be willing to share what you did to get the motion sensor exposed to Home Assistant?

Thanks, I was trying to move the date to a different area of the screen and see now that even though it moves in the configuration screen, it only will show in the bottom center of the screen.

Do any of the firmwares have an option to turn off the outside ring?

I did not get anywhere with LaView today, will try again tomorrow.

Hey guys, to those who have owned both, would you recommend the Hikvision Gen 1 or 2 doorbell?

Gen 2 $130 worth double the Gen 1 at $70 today?

I know your question is directed to those who have owned both, I have not, but I can say every person, about a half a dozen here who have owned the first gen are very glad they upgraded (I have read every msg. in this thread). You will find similar reviews on the Net stating the same thing.

Right now the video quality of this camera beats Ring Pro and Nest (stated also from owners of both), that in itself is saying a lot.
If you buy second gen; RCA, LaView, EZVIZ, Nelly's, etc., seem to all be the same hardware just different color face plates. LaView's and Nelly's comes with ONVIF support. RCA and the others can be upgraded with LaView's or Nelly's latest firmware.

Hope this helps. Let us know which way you go.

Two Questions on the RCA HSDB2.

+ What would be the connection string used in Blue Iris to connect to the Doorbell? I had this working and for some reason, it stopped and having difficulties getting it working again.

+ Is there other software than the RCA App. Find this app terrible, need to sign in every time after an update and miss half the people at the door.

Still have not heard back from Techs but this is my chat today:

Update: The Nelly's version gets just as hot. I do like that is has no branding on it besides the plastic wrap that has a nelly's tag.
I like the stealth branding on the Nelly's as well, but ended up going with RCA because it was a bit cheaper and they didn't offer a bronze face plate.
One of the product photos clearly shows the RCA bronze face plate without the logo on it. I knew it was a long shot but I was hopeful it would ship that way. Unfortunately all 3 have RCA on them for anyone else wondering.

You have several choices of phone Apps, EZVIZ, LaView ONE, Hik-Connect, etc. I think there is one or two more but I can't recall their names.

Is there one thats preferred? Does anything need to be done to the camera first, like firmware?

What's the connection string for getting the camera set up in Blue Iris?

It seems people here do like the LaView ONE App, but some also like the EZVIZ App, they are very similar. Only thing I have read here is you may need to remove/unregister your Doorbell from the RCA App first, but I would first try to install one or both and see if they find your Doorbell.
I know this thread is big but there are plenty of messages about this same subject so if you run into any issues you are in the right place. You cannot mess up anything by trying other Apps and you do not have to upgrade your firmware either to try other Apps.

But as far as your firmware but pretty much all of the RCA owners here has upgraded to either LaView's firmware or Nelly's for the ONVIF support. This I can help you with, just let me know. Also by upgrading your RCA, with the firmware mentioned you will be able to remove that big RCA Logo you see in your view screen :)

As for your last question, I have not yet setup Blue Iris to help you with the config. I believe that if you have a firmware with ONVIF then Blue Iris should enter all the parameters for you, not sure though.

Maybe this will help:

RTSP streams:

rtsp:/admin$password@192.168.1.50:554/Streaming/Channels/101/ - Main Stream
rtsp:/admin$password@192.168.1.50:554/Streaming/Channels/102/ - Sub Stream
or
rtsp:/admin$password@192.168.0.1:554/ch1/main/av_stream
rtsp:/admin$password@192.168.0.1:554/ch1/sub/av_stream

Just replace the $ with :
enter your Doorbells IP with the :554 port number
admin will be username
password is the verification code off of the back of your Doorbell (mine was 6 capital characters long, ex. XYZZYX)

Also:
You can view the RTSP stream in VLC under Media/Open Network Stream...

One more suggestion, install the Hikvision Configuration Batch Tool
If you upgrade your firmware this is the software you need. Also you can change a lot of things on your camera like brightness, frame rate (FULL FRAME) is 30FPS, you can also get to the files of your SD Card on the camera and copy them to your PC. Great Tool to have.

I know this message is long, sorry just trying to think of everything that will help you. I will search for some screenshots in this thread for your Blue Iris Config.

UPDATE: I found one message with a screenshot of Blue Iris: message #1,023
There are more but let me know if this works for you first before I search for more, thanks.

Thank you very much for the great explanation & info!

Yes, I would be interested in the firmware upgrade.
+ Is there a recommended one to install (LaView or Nelly's)? Also a location to download?
I plan to use the LaView One App once the firmware is updated.

Those were the parameters I originally had. The RCA doorbell is connected to WiFi. I get notifications via RCA, but I think the WiFi might be low strength causing BI not to connect.

Ok here you go here are your links:

LaView firmware 190716

Nelly's firmware 190615

These are .dav files, just use Batch Tool to upgrade.

BUT, if you do want to get rid of your RCA Logo, there is a trick we learned, see message #916

Here is the EZVIZ firmware link

So you first load the EZVIZ firmware, then turn off Logo in Batch Tool, I believe is it under Remote Configuration/Image/Video Display
Then load LaView's firmware and the Logo will be gone. It is a bit weird but you will see this option go way in the Batch Tool when you are running LaView's firmware so by loading EZVIZ first you turn it off and LaView does not turn it back on but leaves it off. Hey it works.

So as far as your BI issue, I would try to ping the Doorbell's IP address from your BI PC, is ping high, inconsistent or low 5ms avg. You may need to switch to 2.4GHz band due to distance, some have had to add extender by Doorbell. Also something that has been a factor is the transformer not being big enough, some have seen Doorbell not stay connected to network and BI, random reboots, not work with Mech. Chime, etc. Not saying you have to upgrade your transformer yet, but many people here have. There is a fix and we will find one :) So I will be watching the game tonight in hope of a come back win :) and I will check periodically to see if you need any help if you do this upgrade tonight.

Thank you! I was able to get the camera firmware upgraded and also reconnected to Blue Iris. Your screenshot helped and I also had to adjust my firewall rules on PFSense. After moving it to a separate IoT network it would help if I created a rule.

I was able to download and get an account created for the Laview ONE app. It seems like the only way you can add a device is by QR code or SN. Is there another way to add my RCA doorbell would I need to scan a code on the doorbell itself?

Found the QR code on the RCA packaging and that worked. Wow, this app seems better already as long as I don't have to login anymore for answering. :-)

Thanks again for your help, think I'm set!!

Too kewl, great news. I am glad to help someone, I have had so much help from everyone here. This is a Great Forum.
So the LaView App is far from a 5 star App, but it has worked pretty good for me. There are a few times I get a notification, click on it and the App will ask for login info. But I just close the App, reopen and all is good. There was a recent issue that no one was getting called from our Doorbell when the button was pushed. It clear up after about a week, we are blaming it on the cloud. :)

Take Care,
David
