new system

You are trying to cover too wide of area with a wide lens, and too few cams, thus making it harder to ID anyone.
You also have the cams mounted too high, which means they are pointed down at a sharp angle, and the IR is then at too sharp an angle and doesn't spread out to the street as it should.
7-8 ft off the ground is ideal.
And you need more zoom to capture faces, especially at night.
Study this: cliff notes and this: IPVM Camera Calculator V3

a company fitted the cams , they said thats were they fit cams
I thought 10 to 15 ft off the ground would be ideal.

it's not very serious to ask questions and not take the time to read the answers people give you .
Contact the company who fitted the cam and ask them ... !

when I was little my mother taught me to say "thank you" when someone was helping for something...

Hi ikmaboot

Many times the companies / people that install cameras are not the same who have to use them to ID suspects.

Dahua 2MP 45x SD6CE245U-HNI Starlight PTZ: unfuQinbelievable. A great camera. Get it from Andy @EMPIRETECANDY. If you need a PTZ you won't be disappointed. thumbsup.gif

The only downside is you'll have a small canister vacuum cleaner hanging on the side of your house. Smileyspin.gif

This is midnight, pitch dark...
