I'd be interested in what shutter speeds you are running with the LPR cam four feet off the ground and not getting blinded. I'm running 4ms at night and it works very well. I can run a faster speed at night, but then the fringes don't work as well. This camera is on a corner, so some cars go straight and some turn right. None are really going fast, maybe 30 mph at best. During the day I can run it at 1 ms or faster. The camera I use is a 3 mp POE Sricam. Some people think they are junk. I don't know, it was relatively cheap and has worked since spring. I do use a separate 20 watt white LED shining at the car to aid in the illumination.
Good luck.

Nayr: I don't mean to hijack this mans thread, but that's cool. I'd be interested in seeing some head on night shots at 190 feet. With my camera lower it will get blinded by oncoming headlights, and at 2 ms it's hard to get all the plates since it's a residential road and oncoming cars don't exactly have a 30 foot lane to stay in.

If you're blinded by headlights I'd say try a faster exposure and lower the gain and if you still can't see plates then add more IR, making sure that it's shooting pretty close to the same angle the camera is. You'll need a pretty focused beam to have much IR left at that distance. You can get 5 degree IR illuminators or even adjustable ones down to that tight. Search IR cannon on here.

Cable (burial grade if running exposed or underground), ends, cable tool kit (crimpers, tester, stripper, etc), installation tools (fish tape/sticks, long drillbits), illuminators, maybe junction boxes/conduit/bender if you can't run the wire inside the house or tuck the wire into the siding. Beer for post-installation celebration.
