Hey guys

Hope I am posting in the appropriate section of the forum...couldn't find one related to buying advice.

I am thinking of upgrading my CCTV setup (16 2MP analog cameras, Navaio DVR) which is used for surveillance in a club - dance venue. Their primary job is to provide footage / evidence of fights, stolen phones and staff monitoring.

I was thinking of going the NVR way this time, since prices dropped in the last few years. Question is...what NVR would you reccomend? Main features would have to be:

- 3 MP capability, at least (to be able to recognise faces / clothes / cars' license plates)
- good live view and footage search by Android phone app and PC...so Gigabit Ethernet and a decent, stable software is a must.
- occasional footage playback done smoothly at 8x or 16x (no one is watching the cameras permanently, like in a casino)
- Optional missing objects search in the recordings for easier identification of stolen phones and handbags
- Optional people counter for a certain period of time (for verifying that the ticket seller at the entrance does not take money from new arriving customers without giving tickets)
- PTZ & Fisheye options
- at least 2x6TB capacity
- H265
- bandwidth as much as possible
- RAID ability would be really nice
- Optional POS integration would be really nice, although I am not sure exactly if (or how) that works
- budget: 500 EUR (would be able to increase it for the features above)

For the cameras, i was thinking:
- 3 MP capability, at least (to be able to recognise faces / clothes / cars' license plates)
- stable and reliable software
- excellent low light and IR performance (most of the important events happen during the parties)
- IR to be triggered as late as possible (being able to differentiate colours is very important in identifying people)
- Starlight, LightFinder or other technology if it can get the cam to avoid going to IR during the parties and loose the advantage of colour identification
- Is this possible??? - use the light coming from the moving heads, beams, and other lights in the club as a light source, even if that light is coloured, in order to avoid going to IR?
- Is this possible??? - two fisheye cameras (one to be used above the circular bar and POS - maybe use this one in POS integration if the NVR supports it, and the other above the guy at the entrace where the tickets are sold). These cams must be able to show footage of the colour of the bills - this way I can tell how much money they charge for drinks / entrance / etc.
- budget:
- 100 EUR, max 150 EUR / piece - for all the bells and whistles (would need min. 16 cameras)
- 300 EUR / piece - for the 2 Fisheye cams

Thanks so much for reading all my requests and hope you have a solution for me...

Cheers!

Sounds like an interesting setup for a security camera system. I take it the club has dim lighting most of the time, thus

I would recommend picking up a Dahua OEM starlight camera - perhaps a IPC-HDW52xx model and testing it out in your setup and see if it makes a big enough difference to make it worth replacing your other cameras.

Yeah...it's dim lighting the entire time that the video is relevant and needed mostly.

During the day when all the lights are on, a 2MP no-name camera worth 20 EUR will do the job of identifying suppliers and amount of crates of alcohol and beer being delivered, but...although sometimes that footage is needed, it's not my primary focus.

But clear images in dim lighting conditions, during the parties, preferrably in colour...now that's needed badly.

a 20 eur camera never does the job...they are unreliable junk...
as noted for low light look at the dahua starlight 1080p turrets

That solution from Dahua is really cool and they seem to have everything covered...

...BUT...

The reason I mentioned a budget is because I don't want to spend an entire years' profit on surveillance cameras :)) Have you seen the price of the (otherwise really cool) cameras in their solution?

Anyway...great link for reference as to what you can do with a complex surveillance system.

Show me how to get at least 16 cameras for my club, from the ones mentioned in that link, with a budget of 2k... and I'll order them tomorrow.

The fisheye alone is almost 1000 eur...

On-topic...in my first post, that's where I mentioned budget. And it's around 3k, more or less...depending on the features and quality.

I was refering to looney2ns' link...with that 2k. Not your suggestion. That's pretty good and I think i'll try one to see if it does the job.

Any suggestions for a NVR?

if you are going to run dahua cameras and want a standalone NVR then buy a dahua nvr...there are many threads discussing the models.
Personally I dont use any standalone nvrs...i much prefer pc based VMS like blue iris software.

Ok, i'll check them out. NVRs do an adequate job in my situation.

All the extra functionality of Blue Iris is overkill for my needs, I think...
