NVR16CH-16P-2AI Questions

I’ve reproduced this now on 3 different NVRs at 3 different locations.
I see no way to download an IVS clip OR a clip that contains both IVS and General recording from the timeline in the latest versions of SmartPss Lite

@steve1225 can you help?

Is P2P enabled on your NVR? Under Networking?

Are you port forwarding to connect remotely?
I'm catching up on the responses here.

Yes, P2P is enabled on the NVR for DMSS support on our mobile phones.

I have not setup conventional port forwarding on the router for the NVr ports, though I have enabled and disabled uPnP on the NVR to see if that was part of the issue. Nothing has been ironed out yet.

That said I found some older threads where users were having this same issue with PSS not exporting files if they contained any IVS triggers. The one user ended up doing what I have been, allowing the download to fail and then retrying it, which usually works. It isn't an exclusive to my house issue, but it does seem to be rare.

OK so here's where I'm at so far. Still more to do..so standby.

First its helpful to understand that the Dahua NVR treats Regular, Motion, IVS recordings as separate video clips that it splices together
When you look at a timeline with "ALL" recordings, you'll see a green line (Regular) with colored hash marks designating Motion, IVS, etc
These are separate clips being spliced in effectively real-time

Watch this screen recording. (PS, I HATE the 100MB upload restriction here, but I get it)

  1. This is the latest version of SmartPSS LITE that I define a download as starting before any IVS recording and cut off midway through the IVS clip.
  2. What you'll see is the download progression come to a stop when the download reaches the IVS recording. It stalls for a full 60 seconds and then gives up
  3. There is a "Download Again" button on the tab. Clicking it allows the full downloaded clip to be processed as expected

*This IS NOT how SmartPSS Full version nor my older SmartPSS Lite behaves. They work as you would expect, exporting the clip exactly as you have defined
**I believe this is what the OP is seeing as he selected ONLY IVS recording in the initial review screen, thus it dies immediately upon hitting the IVS clip
*** NOTE: Downloading clips in SmartPSS LITE via the sidebar with predefined clips works fine, and DMSS works as expected, as does normal downloading on the NVR Web GUI for me on two NVRs. And downloading a simple General Recording clip (all Green no hash marks) works fine. So this appears so far to be unique to SmartPSS Lite and downloading IVS clips from the timeline

(Remember to switch the YT player to at least 1080p and go Full Screen))

@EMPIRETECANDY Can you fund out why?

Thanks for your efforts. I found the same. I should have followed up sooner with more detail, but I can at least say we're replicating the same issue. There is an older thread on this forum with complaints of the same issues in SmartPSS (2017 i think?), he had the same experience where the video file would stall at an IVS "junction", and would need to wait for it to fail and then restart the download, which worked everytime.

For me, I can't get an IVS file to begin, but if I start with a "general" clip that contains IVS recordings, it'll often hang at that point and need to be re-downloaded.

If this is the same issue as you're experiencing, it has a history back to at least 2020 according to that user. I'll try to find the thread and link it.

Yeah I saw that. Was with old SmartPSS. Seemed to have been fixed as I've had no problem with Full SmartPSS for many years. It seems to be specific to Lite now.

I'm trying to find my old install of Lite. Will advise and I've alerted Andy, maybe Dahua can give some guidance.

At least there's a clunky workaround with the retry which has worked every time for me. The rest of the prog seems to behave as expected.

Agreed. Is it a standardized timeout before it fails and allows a retry? I initially thought it was a series of pause/start button presses but perhaps just waiting on the stalled out file works the same.

To clarify the NVR web UI issue of low frame rate and low performance on this particular computer appear be an issue with either the AMD CPU or GPU not providing the horsepower required by the browser. This is somewhat of an assumption, but I experience occasional issues with specific applications on this computer that are unique to it. One example unrelated to this is when attempting to play AOE2DE, previously I would need to load up a different game, run a benchmark or CPU stress test, or something resource intensive to allow the game to run. Without the additional load, the GPU essentially goes to sleep and operates at ~7W instead of ~120-130W - I'm thinking a similar issue is happening with Edge, Chrome and Pale Moon, where it isn't actually trying to decode the streams.

The Intel laptop which is running a MUCH slower CPU and GPU plays the streams without the stutter, however the interface is still glitchy to use. Mainly, dragging the timeline left and right rarely works to navigate through video, or place the cursor for trim selections, etc.

Not unlike PSSLite, using alternative means to download the video works ok, such as an AI search, and backing up the selected items. It might be unfair to say the NVR UI doesn't work. It does, I'm just having extraordinary difficulty in selecting the clips the download due to the interface not operating as it should.

I have a request though! I'm noticing when you post a clip when using the scissors tool to select your download length... How do you make it less than 1 hour default, or how is it you're grabbing it from the far right of the time bar without needing to scroll out to see the 1 hour end marker? Mine will disappear off the page, so I need to roughly click the scissor tool at a point I may be interested in, drag the right hand "end" stop to an appropriate range and then zoom in on the timeline to adjust them. I can't seem to grab it from the right hand side without first "zooming out", if that makes any kind of sense...

Yeah it defaults to 1 hour. But I zoom into my time first, click the start marker, then regardless of zoom, I grab the very right hand edge of the timeline, and it snags the end marker. Just right click and hold down and 95% of the time I snag it. I never zoom back out to go chase it.

Awesome, I'll practice that. BTW V1.003.0000002.4.R.230330 is working for me too... Huge thanks. Hopefully they acknowledge this bug.

Yes thats the last good version I think

See if this helps on exporting from the NVR

*BTW this is the one function on most Dahua NVRs that requires IE (OR in this case Edge in IE Mode). It may be that newer model NVRs dont have this requirement, (mine is circa 2018) but most before 2021-2022 do. Otherwise many controls simply aren't visible.

That is how mine is set up. The tree is a little different, but this is how I've been using it, exactly.
For some reason though in SmartPSSLite with your advice of reaching to the far right to grab the slider, (rather than zooming out) the right hand slider doesn't stick to the right of the timeline for me, I need to zoom out to find it, it seems.
