The president already mentioned the system was broken to begin with when he entered office. That's honesty right there. No other president would have the guts to speak like that. The president should not and cannot be blamed. The system was setup to fail at some point. There is a fracture in the system that needs to be repaired. Its as bad as our crumbling infrastructure.
The average Joe should not be enslaved by corporations and Hollywood. Notice how Hollywood's pop culture transformed the social norms in the last 30 years.

The significance of the doughnut store picture you ask? We have a generation that doesn't distinguish right and wrong. Ariana Grande thinks its perfectly fine to lick a donut (with no intention of buying it) and putting it back on the tray for someone to buy. Its not a souvenir. You lick the donut, you buy it. The same can be said with adolescents opening up the lids of ice cream, licking the ice cream and stashing it back in the freezer section for someone else to buy.
When that college student says he doesn't care about Corona, his presence is rippled through Tik Tok, Instagram, and Twitter. Every adolescent / young adult thinks its perfectly fine to go out and enjoy life. Later you find hundreds of COVID-19 cases in your town just because one person didn't care.

I couldn't see the licking on my phone so I missed it. Yup, you lick it, you bought it.
I saw a news story of some woman that went around and licked $36,000 worth of groceries at the height of the lockdown food runs, all of which had to be trashed.
Ariana could probably buy donuts, lick them, then sell them for 1000x their cost. Fans would "eat them up."

People are going to have to get out at some point. There are still a handful of jobs, especially government jobs, where you can't work home remotely. If you stay home, they won't care, you'll get fired, and someone else will be hired. 16 million+ Americans unemployed.

@Sybertiger I had to pick up groceries earlier today. It wasn't at Trader Joe's. I elected to go to a local food market in town thinking that I could avoid joining a queue, but there it was, a line I went at a time thinking that others would be asleep, lol. That didn't work well. The line wasn't too long. Only six people ahead of me. I almost thought about leaving the queue and trying another time, but fortunately it only took about 5 minutes to get in. I've had enough with processed food. Needed the fresh produce. Patience is a Virtue
