The heavily vax'd UK just put up a big number,
49,156, largest I recall for recent cases.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Dr Hilary Jones said the rising numbers of coronavirus cases and virus-related deaths have him worried. Monday saw a grizzly 49,156 new Covid cases recorded in the UK. The health situation is extremely vulnerable and only one new variant could send Britain "back to square one", warned Dr Hilary.
A professor at Oxford University, Jim Naismith, wrote in a statement: "At the moment the UK has a higher level of Covid-19 than most other comparable countries, this is seen not just in positive tests but in hospital admissions and deaths.
With winter approaching, it might be worthwhile to take stock of where we are. The UK has had at least three waves. The strong start in vaccination has faded and the UK now lags several comparable countries in the EU."
He continued: "We are once again in a less than ideal situation as we head into this winter. The concern is not of death run riot, but of long covid blighting lives and an NHS overwhelmed."

Looked it up, I was correct;
THE UK's daily Covid cases have risen by the largest amount in three months, as 49,156 infections were recorded.
The dramatic spike in cases marks the most substantial daily increase in the spread of the virus since July 17, when 54,674 infections were recorded.
