PLZ HELP. Cant connect to HIK cameras on ipv4 but can on internal nic

Hi all

A big newbie here, trying my best to learn.

So used DHCP to find my ipv4, subnet and default gateway.

Ipv4: 192.168.1.169
Sub 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.254

I uncheck dhcp and click apply

I have 2 hik ip cameras and my laptop plugged into the NVR poe ports. LAN has a cable to my router.

I open SADP on my laptop:

I change the ip addresses to :192.168.1.108 and 107.

I then go to edit camera on the NVR program and edit the 2 cameras to 108 and 107, I add the password. But then just has the error symbol and I cannot view them via the NVR.

BUT if I type 192.168.1.108 in a browser I can view the live camera on the directly connected laptop (but not on wireless devices).

I have also noticed even if I put in the NVR IP in a browser, nothing comes up?!?!

Can anybody please help walk me through this. Iv struggled for 2 days!

I'm interpreting your network layout as:

What IP settings have been applied to the NVR itself?

Default gateway on the cameras are likely unnecessary, but included here for completeness.

I presume the router is the DHCP server, have you created reservations for the cameras or altered the min/max range of IP addresses handed out so that the camera's addresses are not duplicated on the network?

Thanks. Yes the diagram is correct.

NVR IP is being weird -

if NO router is plugged in to LAN port, SADP shows 192.168.2.64... it will not let me modify this for some reason?

When I plug in the router, an extra device shows up (same name as nvr) with ipv4 address saying 192.168.1.64 BUT IPv4 gateway saying 192.168.1.254

Something I did was go into my laptop network connections - ethernet properties - internet protocol version 4 (tcp/ipv4 - and then changed to "use the following ip address" 192.168.1.200 and subnet mask to 255.255.255.0

Side note: I have never logged into my router to change anything on there. It is as it came.

Hope you can see something wrong... I'm so confused ‍♂

.255 is an invalid address, you need to use an unused IP address between .1 and .254

I only just changed it to 255 from 200. I will change back to 200. Thanks

The 192.168.254.x addresses on the cameras are auto configured by the NVR, this is normal.

Your laptop should NOT be plugged into the NVR POE ports. Connect it to your router. You should then be able to connect the the NVR IP address of 192.168.1.108

Thank you for that. I have done that now but it still wont connect.

I have connected the NVR directly to the router via the LAN port. And then my laptop to the router directly.

When I do this, SADP only shows the NVR on the network under IP 192.168.1.169 (or 200) if I set it to that.

If I try to connect a browser to 192.168.1.169 it loads and I log in but no cameras are live.

Any more ideas? ‍♂

Does NAT - enable UPnP need to be selected? Currently selected and mapping auto... but all ports say inactive.

You have no default gateway specified on your lan adapter, any particular reason for this?
 
No sure as to why now I'm plugged into the router only the NVR is showing in SADP and not any cameras. This is hurting my head.....

If your diagram is near correct your Camera IP address are more than likely wrong. The NVR uses a completely different sub net for the cameras then your home network. You will not be able to access the cameras directly using there IP other than via the NVR. Most NVRs that have ports on the back have two ethernet ip addresses on different subnets, one for the home network and one for the camera network.

In simple terms what are you trying to do.

I 'simply' want to view my cameras from an IPv4 address and not using the internal NIC IPv4 address.

BUT when I do everything I think I am meant to do... the cameras do not go live.

So currently can only use the cameras on the NIC address. Maybe somebody can walk me through it or suggest a video? I have watched everything I can find on YouTube.

I'm really stuck... been trying this for days. All day!
 
Thank you. Just tried and still no joy?

So I want to connect the cameras using assigned ip like:
192.168.1.6
192.168.1.7
192.168.1.8

If I use the NIC address I cant watch the cameras on my mobile or get alarm notifications etc (when on mobile data).

So I fixed the issue.

If anyone has same problem:

I was changing the ip of the router... and trying to put the cameras onto the same ip but with different end numbers. Where I can use use plug and play code and set the IP to the DHCP auto config and then untick it to keep the same IP.

I then restarted my machine and enabled hik connect in platform access and bingo. Status says online.

Only issue now is I cant view when not on my wifi/home connection. New thread coming.
