My wife works in the Middle School cafeteria that our 7th grader goes to (no bus...they took them away...another story for another time). Pay sucks and work is hard, but, it helps us with transporting our daughter and they get paid vacations off (summer as well). As you can expect, the turn over is rather large. A new company took over the contract and has just totally f*****d it all up. But they ceratinly took the time to initiate DEI policies, had to get that box checked!
I am all for disabled and handicapped people working, always have been. Its all about quality of life. But, all employee's should be matched with their job skills. Enter DEI. My wife has been really upset with this new hire they brought on. She has Downs Syndrome, or whatever it is they call it these days, IDK. The kitchen job is a high stress job....very fast paced. Kind of like the old McDonalds were (more automated now). Anyway, this new hire can't do shit. Sweeps in circles, puts a few boxes away, then sits down. They (including my wife) have tried over and over to teach her. Notta...not going to happen. So her and the Assistant Manager went to the head supervisor and complained. My wife is a Fil-Am (Filippina-American) and the Assistant Manager is Mexican. They were both called 'racist' and their jobs were threatened. I am sorry....I had to start laughing when my wife told me this. I did warn her though. Come hell or high water, they ARE NOT FIRING THE DEI HIRE...no matter what. Whether they get money for that positon, or its mandated, or WTF cares why, the DEI hire is staying. Oh, its not only at this school...its at all of the schools that fall under Comal ISD (and knowing the liberal ass city govvernment of San Antonio, probably all of the city as well). It's freakn' horrible. My 11th grade Daughter even states that they have two at her High School, and she said they seem to do very little, if anything.
Might as well make them GS employees. Un-Fucking-Believable.
And yes, after this eary, she will no longer be working there.
Just my feel good story for the week.
