PTZ camera installation problems

Hello everyone! I am beginner for these things and i have been fiddling with my settings for almost week now without any progress so im here to seek help.
i have dahua POE nvr and 3 domes that i got to work couple years ago and all i remember is that it was long battle, and now there has been people at my property so i decided to get more cameras. i bought two used ptz cameras (dahua and hikvision) when i first connected dahua cam everything worked fine. then i tried to install hikvision camera and i managed to make my situation worse. Now even dahua ptz camera doesnt work anymore. I have tried to fiddle with ip addresses, downloaded different softwares, connecting cameras to pc,nvr and modem, and nothing seems to work. im getting really frustrated because i cant find solution no matter how much i try to research. if anyone would be so kind to help i would appreciate it very much.

It looks like NVR DHI-NVR4104-P-4KS2 total output power is only 50W, max single port power is 25.5W. Your 2 new ptz cameras probably exceeding the max power the NVR can provide for all your cameras. Especially the Hikvision ptz usually even more power hungry than the Dahua ptz.

Have you try remove all other cameras except the Dahua ptz, will it work that way?
 
Connect them to an external PoE switch with more power?
 
well it worked at beginning (3 domes and 1 dahua ptz) so it should still work? i was thinking if i should invest into POE switch but i figured i should ask from someone wiser than me. ill try to get it work without domes connected. thanks you for you answers

It might have worked during day when cameras were not pulling more power for infrared. Or as the unit ages or a little corrosion on connectors and it needs a little more power than when everything is new.
 
Thank you all for for you time. I found used Ubiquiti EdgeSwitch 8 150 W. I think i will buy this switch and then i will try everything again. if someone sees problem with this switch i would appreciate if someone would enlighten me with those problems

 
oh. Im glad i asked before buying. So if i want to play safe i should consider dahua. i found also used dahua poe switch PFS4226-24ET-360. i was thinking it had bit too much ports but maybe i will buy more cameras in future and it wont hurt. can there be problems with hikvision camera and dahua switch?

Not likely, BUT just insure:
  1. The POE switch is 802.3af, at or bt compliant (suffix depends on power capability)
  2. The POE switch can supply more than the sum total of all POE cameras connected, using their maximum current draw specifications.

these numbers and their meanings go way over my head but yes this dahua switch has 802.af and 802at PoE protocol and can supply 360w. so if i have 2 ptz cameras and my dahua needs 23 W and hikvision ptz (53max?) plus couple small domes so it should be more than enough?
also it has 2 ports that can give 60w and rest can give 30w. am i interpreting this correctly?

As long as the max draw of all cams added together does not excced the max rating of the switch, you should be OK.

(what is weird is that it takes 17 watts with night vision and my orginal nvr should give 25 still only works with switch) I want to thank everyone involved helping me. I still have problems with hikvision camera. I think i cant find it because my default gateway is 192.168.100.x and camera ip is 192.168.1.x. should i change my ip from pc to get it work?

Now that the NVR's POE switch is not being used, you should assign unique, static IP's to the cameras in the same subnet as the NVR's LAN but OUTSIDE of the router's (if any) DHCP pool.
 
I hate to say that I repair a good few POE NVRs and have found that most of the times the NVRs are connected to normal cameras at times not even PTZ cameras.. Some of the issues are related to POE Chip in the NVR other times with it was storm related the issue with NVR is related to protection circuit. If you have problems with POE connected devices on a 4 port NVR if there is no power to any of the cameras it could be POE chip or Ethernet Transformer for the POE ports.. If you had a 8ch POE NVR I would say try the cameras on different set of ports. For instance the last POE NVR that I repaired was 16 POE port NVR, first 8 ports were dead, Found this by connecting one of the cameras to port 9-16 and camera works. Yet ports 1-8 didn't. There are many different things that can go wrong and for me it was POE chip that power 8 of the ports so there are 2 chips on the bottom of the PCB and is a small 56 pad QFN. Most places to source the chip wanted you to buy 500 or more for them to even sell you one lucky for me I found a company that I could buy 1 each so I bought 3 just in case there is any future issues. Also was not good that they source only had 36chips for sale. So I wanted to make sure I was covered. Anyway something to keep in mind is that there are people out there selling cables that are fake and if you happen to connect your PTZ camera with fake cables to your POE Switch it can kill your camera and in some cases this is more costly then making sure all your Cat5e or Cat6a is Real Copper wire and not some fake CCA.. Or something even worse as I have found some of the people I come across have cables that I wouldn't connect to a very low power POE camera let alone a PTZ camera..

I have 4 port nvr and at first it worked with it, then it just didnt now that i have switch there is no problems. Nvr is propably faulty some way but it doesnt matter anymore because i have my switch. I use Cat6 cables that i make myself and test them with cable tester

Then to my hikvision. I tried to find it from sadp tool and i cant see it there and thats why i was thinking if i should change my home network ip to find it.

Im not very good with these things. is my routers dhcp pool 192.168.100.x and i should change my nvr to 192.168.80.x for example?

SADP will find Hikvision IP devices on any subnet - you don't have to change the PC IP address, it uses broadcasts.

I was thinking it would be weird if i would need to do that. SADP tool cant just find it for some reason. My switch tells that it trasmits and receives packets when i connect it to hikvision camera but it does not consume any power. i do have my power supply connected to that camera. (i assume it needs it because it doesnt turn on without it)
