I have 2 black face Dahua PTZs which I am looking to mount underneath overhangs using pendant style ceiling mounts. I would like to make the cameras as incognito as I can (despite them being monsters) so would like as short a pendant as possible.

Dahua makes the PFB300C ceiling mount but that is 10” long. Any shorter options that would work, Dahua or otherwise? I really dont want to have to get one cut down and threaded.

Thanks,
K.

Why not weld one? The specs say **Pipe Thread G1 1/2″** so i guess it would be easy to make / weld one with standard black pipe with the correct thread on it already, and weld it to a flange with the hole pattern drilled. :D

Or just with a floor flange, and a threaded 1/2'' pipe cut to length.

Mueller Global 1/2 in. x 6 in. Black Steel Nipple-583-060HN - The Home Depot

VPC 1/2 in. Black Malleable Iron FPT Floor Flange-16-521-603 - The Home Depot

That's how i would do it, but it maybe is to much work or to complicated for others, when they don't have the nerves for it, or the tools / equipment like a welder and such.

But as you already said, **I really dont want to have to get one cut down and threaded.**, i would think that my suggestion to much. But i just put my two cents in it.

lol, ok :D

I edited my post with two links, maybe that is an option for you.

Ah, nevermind. I just found out that the pipe thread is on the inside of the mount, not on the outside. Stupid me...

That's awesome, thank you. A bit of white paint and I'm sure I could rig something together if the threads fit.

I ordered one of these https://www.amazon.com/Universal-Security-Camera-Junction-Bullet/dp/B01JR0JNKQ/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1530230049&sr=8-4&keywords=Universal+camera+box for a similar model and drilled a few holes next to each other in the cover then ground the whole smooth for the cables to run inside and mounted in to my eaves.
Your install looks great but I am looking to mount the the larger DH-SD49225T-HN.

Oh, when you said "black face Dahua PTZs" I was thinking of the SD1A203T-GN

Principle holds though, I just need the floor flange, a close nipple and a F:F coupling.

The mount adapter looks more like 1.5" though, not 0.5". I will have a chance to take to home depot on Monday and check.

Do you have the 49225 with the screw mount? I have a 49225 myself, but i have the one with the 3 bolt clamping method.

But you could indeed take the adapter to the local home depot, so you could carefully test, if it fits :)

My 49225 arrives Monday. I have the SD59230U-HNI sitting next to me and it has the 3 bolt clamp but came with the screw adapter as well. I had assumed the 49225 would come with the adapter too, did yours?

Mine did not come with the screw adapter. I guess that some models come with the adapter, and some don't. But as far as i now, the sd49225 just comes with the standard 3 bolt system.

So the smaller wall mount which comes with the 49225 has the three bolt slip fitting without adapter. Interesting. Guess I'll need to order another adapter if I want to use nipples......mmmm, nipples.

I was able to use the PFB300C just without the 10" pipe. It was a 2 person install but it worked great for this SD6AE830V-HNI.
Give the man a cupie doll! That is awesome. So the 10 inch pole just unscrews from the flange/mount?

Yes it does, and then the PFA 111 or 114 will screw into it.
Camera Accessories – Page 2 – Dahua North America
One of those came with all of my PTZ cams, not sure about yours..

I also put a backer board above the soffit because this camera is pretty heavy.
It has the nice cover to hide the mounting screws.
I just needed someone to hold the camera because with the cable I couldn't just hold it up and screw it to the mount.

Ok, so I thought I would update...

I considered 3 options in the end.

1. I could have cobbled something together with black malleable pipe and painted it.
2. I tried the Hikvision DS-1663ZJ Indoor/Outdoor Ceiling Mount Bracket but the shaft of the camera didn't fit.
3. I ended up removing the 10" pipe from the PFB300C and mounted using the PFA110. I drilled a hole in the soffit and put the connectors up there but ran the cable back out and down the outside of the house until we renovate the inside of this room at which time I will run the cable internally though the soffit/wall to the basement.

Thanks for your help guys.

I just did this with the PFB300C ceiling mounting bracket (minus its pipe) and PFA111 adapter. It does indeed make for a nice short mount. A safety cable and the camera's included caribeaners let me hang the camera on the adapter while making the cable connections.

One problem, of which anyone doing this should be aware, is that the ceiling bracket's round beauty trim (when used without a pipe) covers access to the pipe rotation interference bolt.
That means you can't lock the adapter from eventually rotating as the PTZ applies panning momentum.

I noticed mine was gradually unscrewing itself despite really tightly screwing the adapter into the bracket. This is seen as a gradual shift of preset position Point of Aim a few degrees rightward. That's exactly what would be seen as the adapter unscrews itself.

Leave this without an interference bolt and the PTZ will eventually screw the adapter completely out.
There goes Humpty Dumpty!

I was going to drill a hole in the trim cover to give access to the locking bolt, but my laziness is now pushing me towards threadlock.
