I wonder if HookUp is involved with RIng, advising them on their cameras?

Hot off the Internet we have the latest video...he recommends the Reolink but does kinda qualify it as well. And @EMPIRETECANDY Boobie Cam makes it on his list of stuff to buy...

" Security cameras are easier than ever for a home user to install, but make sure you avoid these 7 common mistakes. For MOST people I suggest the Reolink 4K NVR (https://amzn.to/33YFKcK) with person detection because it represents an incredible value, but PLEASE watch this video first before choosing Reolink: https://youtu.be/XXoTH1-78iA "

already saw enough in the first few secs

also nice ..

"DORI" ... describes the different functions of the camera based on its placement and resolution... no one needs focal length, only resolution^^

i wondering what his entrance camera is... the quality is so bad i think any reolink model would do a better job than this..

Not saying the video is perfect, but there was a whole section explaining the connection of focal length and DORI... did you not watch the video or are you just being purposefully ignorant?

Also, looks like that screenshot that you took was recorded from UI3's playback page, so it has been compressed no less than 4 times and would depend on his playback resolution in UI3.

Just watch minute 0:40 - 0:55

That is what hookup said

Correct, and then 3:25-4:54 was all about the relationship between focal length and DORI.

Here's a quote from you:

user8963 told me I can access my 12MP cameras from everywhere! It's right in your post above, just read Line 3 word 2 - Line 3 word 23.

He is correct that a 4k camera on the same sensor of a 2MP (which is the case for most of him he tests) will perform better in the daytime, but nighttime it sucks. In most instances, you want to get a camera that will perform at your location for the worse situation, which for most of us is at night when it is dark and there is little to no light. If a camera performs at night, it is easier to tweak settings to make it work during the day than it is the other way around.

The boobie camera is very tempting but I don't want domes, I am also debating a PTZ with auto-tracking but finding that is a small enough camera body is a challege.

I watched it again..

Yeah he is talking about it somehow around 3:30, true.
I apologize to miss it.
According to him DORI is all about resolution. No one cares about distortion on <3mm lenses, downsides from more pixels on small sensors , etc.
But sadly its not all about resolution in general. You can even have possible 500pixels on the face, but still unable to identify someone.

Reolink cameras have even trouble at DAY to provide a clear face shot of MOVING persons. There are many examples for that.
At night its even worser.

The boobie cam does serve a good purpose if installed in the proper location. Works well on a covered porch where one cam can look out at people approaching and the other is looking down at packages. It also works well as an overview cam for some homes if you can install it to see two sides of a house and it protected under an eave/soffitt.

This autotracking camera seems not much bigger than a lightbulb LOL. Performance might not be what we expect though LOL:

I have two 2.8mm cameras on either side of my garage doors. One looks left and the other looks right covering where USP drops stuff against my garage door. I haven't gotten the energy to get in my attic to install a camera up on the eve as an overview looking to the left and I want to do LPR so I have been thinking about switching the one to the left to a LPR camera but I don't want to give up the overview looking left. I know the real solution but I am lazy and don't want to get into the attic or dig a network cable to my mailbox for LPR. The boobie could also be good on the eve as an overview for both my side yard and front yard without installing 6 cameras on the corner.

Here is the solution you need. They work great and many of us have one for when we added LPR so that we have an overview and LPR next to each other with only one main ethernet coming from the switch...

It's not so much about running the cable, that's easy. It's that I don't want multiple cameras stacked on top of each other, the same that I don't want a massive ptz on the eve. I like cameras but I also don't want 500 cameras dotted on my house. I do my best to hide them. That's what is nice about the boobie camera. 1 camera, small form factor multiple views. I just wish they were in turret form so I don't have to clean them as often.
