Review- 5MP IR Fixed focal Dome Lite Network Camera

Looks like glass, but a IK10 glass. Vandalproof.

According to the specs, the shell is IK10 metal, the lens cover for the camera is otherwise not specified
How is the low light performance compared to our beloved 2mp starlight?

How is this camera compared to the IPC-HDBW4231F-AS?

How is this versus the 2mp model that we all have come to love?
This one is better after dark.

Thanks, looks very reminiscent to the IPC-HDBW4231F-AS even in terms of specs :)

Anybody know if the camera can be mounted to a ceiling and camera aimed perfectly horizontal or even a degree or two upwards?

It is possible, but then you won't be able to run IR because you will get IR reflection/bounceback once the rubber gasket around the lens is off the dome.

Has anyone tried wall mounting this camera without a bracket in a location that gets rain? I need to replace a couple of old Hik mini-domes that I mounted vertically on Hardiplank and have been torrentially rained on without complaint for 5+ years. I could probably replace with Dahua turrets (since their electronics are completely sealed in the rotating ball) but like the smaller, less obtrusive mini-dome form factor.

Not sure if you have big 1"inch holes through the hardi plank into the wall cavity behind to hide the connector, but that is what you would have to do. then apply a bead of duct seal around big 1" hole and squish it tight to seal perimeter when mounting camera to the board with plastic anchors and screws. then stuff some more duct seal in smaller hole on top side of camera.

this stuff works great. used this to seal in a solar panel usb connection to a cheap Wifi camera.

they updated this model and moved the IR to outside of the dome. I think all else is the same. Plan on getting the new version and will compare with the old version.
