This one actually is bigger then the camera.

I just picked one of these up a couple of weeks ago. Good picture, but the only thing that is bugging me is the lack of a day/night profile as a selection as there is in all of my other dahuas. Is everyone using the general profile? Or are others using the schedule? Or full time day? Just seems strange to me that the option is not available (or maybe I made a bad selection and disabled that selection), but I am used to setting different exposure characteristics for day and night and have the light sensor determine which is best for the light settings.

It has the selection. Which firmware you are using, I am testing on this firmware.

Hi Andy,

I have those drop-downs available, but in the Profile Management tab, my only choices are general, full time, and schedule. My other cameras also have a day/night selection available in the Profile Management tab.

Hello Andy,

I am on V2.800.1051000.0.T.R4.383, Build Date: 2020-06-09

When I go to the profile management page, the Day/Night choice is not available

On my IPC-T5442T-ZEs, My K-42As, or my 5231-Z, I have this selection available in the profile management.

However, I did check my IPC-A35, but that one does not have the day/night selection either (but it is only used as a nursery cam, so I am less concerned about blurry night motion (even thought it isn't blurry) with that camera as opposed to the actual surveillance cameras).

In order for the PTZ to switch between day and night settings, should I leave the profile as General, then? I don't really want to use schedule (even with the sunrise/sunset tool) as one location I had planned for this camera will be dark even during part of the day (1-car garage/workshop with doors not facing the sun path). I may have to rethink my choice for my 2-car garage as I don't really need the PTZ part, but I still think this is the best option for what I want out of the 1-car garage. It has a great picture from what I have tested so far, so I want to make sure I set it up correctly.

Thanks for the help, Andy and everyone else that researched this camera.

I don't have that on mine either.
Most of us use the Sunrise/Sunset "app", and we don't need that Day/Night setting.

My "cure" is to use auto on Day and Night to allow for heavy overcast and use the sunrise/sunset utility to get the real settings I want for both.

I haven't played enough with this camera. By reading some recent posts, it seems like this camera (or maybe only the newer one?!) can move to a preset position, if somebody steps in the IVS spot?

Can this camera follow people? I was thinking about getting this to track people walking by automatically, not sure if this relies on Dahua NVR function or the camera can do it by itself and just send footage to Blue Iris?

Um no.

Autotracking is a function of a camera, not a VMS system. The NVR or BI simply records the feed being given to it.

Now with that said, one can set up a poor mans tracking in BI to simulate tracking, but one needs enough coverage of fixed cams to see the areas to of spotter cams to move the PTZ to various presets.

Was having an IR glare issue with this cam mounted under a white soffit. Was curious as where the IRs were located, so I took some pics while I had the cover off. This may be useful on how you would position the cam when mounting so I thought I would post these for reference. I ended up making a 4" tube extension to drop the cam lower to eliminate glare.

Can someone tell me where the blind spot is? I've searched the manual and instructions that came with it to no avail. I just need to know how to aim this camera.

TIA

ACK - Never mind, I temporarily mounted it and determined that the pigtail is the back. It has a very small blind spot. This is good.
