Review - Dahua SD49225XA-HNR 2MP 25x Starlight + IR PTZ AI Camera with Deep IVS & SMD Plus

It is fairly silent. Inside testing and kinda sounds like a faint R2D2 LOL, but outside unless directly under it, you will not here it. My other non Dahua PTZ was easily heard 40 feet away at the sidewalk. This thing can turn 180 quickly very quietly.

I fixed the "Invalid Preset" problem I was having. Under Video Detection/Motion Detection there is a new setting for a PTZ that allows you to select a preset after motion detection. Somehow I had checked this box and it defaults to preset 1 (which I didn't have setup). Every motion detection event resulted in the "Invalid Preset" event. Just unchecking the box fixed the problem.

So, I have hung onto my analog system for nearly 10 years now. Some cameras have failed and finally my ptz fried when we got power back after the last storm. It is WAY past due to set up my dahua nvr and cameras- they've been sitting idle now for around 4 years waiting to go up. I've been THAT uninspired to tear down and redo the whole system.

I have my sights set on the 49225XA-HNR 2MP 25x Starlight + IR PTZ from Andy- we've chatted recently and I've bought from him before. I'm really kinda hoping that this ptz fits my ptz mount already installed (the thumbnail pic under my user name). That would be a huge bonus. Anyone ever retrofit like that with this camera?

Questions to you users-

Very noisy? I know noise can be heard in the house as mine can (could). Just wondering if you find the tilting as noisy as the panning.

**For long time users (if you can say how long it's been up too)- how has the clear face shield held up? Any signs of discoloring? Ever have a problem on the inside of the shield with hazing or fog? Can the face shield be easily removed? The one on my analog camera lasted many years without issue but it eventually succumbed to discoloring and hazing, like a car headlamp when it fogs over- around year 6 and luckily it was only the part around the IR- not the lens shield itself. Plastic shields on PTZ's and domes WILL eventually suffer from this. Just wondering how the camera has been holding up for the longest users.

Thank all. Still deciding but I really think I'll miss a ptz too much not to install another one.
My three year old 59225 looks just fine still. No inside hazing.

Got mine up yesterday.

A night testing for this model by CCTVnerd

Agreed. Yes in my testing the only PTZ I’ve found in current models quieter than this is the 5A425 which I also recommend. As I’ve said before 49225 is super quiet but 5A425 is quieter still. Both of these are on my recommended list I’ve shared here. 49225 is still an amazing powerhouse of price & performance.

His test is so flawed in the video as his steps are never 1 metre apart especially when he is walking backwards maybe he getting confused Metres & Feet.

Hello
I’m looking to get an auto tracking PTZ and came across this thread. I got about 10 pages in and saw reported issues and that the auto tracking was being removed from this camera.

Have the issues been resolved and does this camera still have the auto tracking capability? If so I definitely want to purchase one of these.

Also is there a ceiling mount for this? I’d like to replace a camera I have mounted to an eve with this one and not have to put a hole in the wall and fish the wire down from its current location.

The factory enabled auto tracking was disabled BUT you can reach out to the dealer you purchase from to have them provide you the custom branch of firmware that DOES unlock this again for you.

So if I bought it from Andy it could or would be enabled then.

There are many sellers selling this camera now and if you need the firmware I can always send it to you no matter who you buy it from.

We are working with the local dahua for handing the warranty issues now, right now North America and Australia i got the authority to fix up the warranty items locally. Attention, these are OEM product from dahua, so any warranty will firstly come to us. Dahua will only do the logo ones warranty if buy locally. They never do any warranty if buy on aliexpress.
Everyone who bought from us will have the real warranty and support, we never sell the lowest price, if need low price just search online.
Will have more new models waiting to make review, let's making more fun!

Yes to a ceiling mount! I ordered mine in Newegg but Andy probably has it for cheaper.

Im having trouble with once the camera starts to track, after a short time(say 10-15 seconds), its jumping back to preset 1 despite the subject(me) still being clearly in frame and moving. I have dug around in the settings and tried to figure it out but have not found the solution.

Does anyone have some feedback on what I can check to fix this?

Also, what is the most current firmware supporting Deep IVS features / Auto Tracking? I purchased the camera with auto tracking from Andy.

Here is the information on my camera

@djborden - is the camera on BI? Is there something else in the frame that it is catching onto?

Go into the camera playback mode and turn on the rules and and watch a playback and you can see what the camera tracks and see if it is accidentally decides to track a mailbox for example after 5 seconds of movement by your subject. This can happen and requires fine tuning the settings.

It is on Blue Iris, and when it does this, it actually goes to "Preset 1" with that coming up on the screen.

Make sure you do any settings in the Camera's Web Interface using Internet Explorer ONLY as the settings you make won't save.
Set the tracking time to say 40 seconds in IE save it then try again. It will stop tracking only in those 40 seconds if the camera see's no movement.
