Review-IP Villa Outdoor Doorbell Station & Indoor Monitor Kit

For those who are using this doorbell, I am powering using PoE. Is it possible to use NO/NC door contacts?
I am trying to use NO by connecting NO & COM but nothing happens when I try to open the door thru the VTO/VTH.

Also facing some issues with reverse proxy. Can login locally using gDMSS but not thru reverse proxy. Not sure why so far.

@looney2ns not sure if you are still using the doorbell, but just found out that you can define the video codec thru dahua config tool.
second stream was set to H264B. I have set it to H264H, may see better video performance now.
Facing some issues with ONVIF: only admin account works. Other accounts added cannot stream cam rtsp url.
Facing some issues with video freezing on VTH when doorbell button pressed: maybe due to feed constantly being fed from VTO to BI. Need more investigation (I disabled in BI and will try again).

I would like to use the VTO 4202F to open/lock the door.
As the VTO is already receiving the power supply from PoE, is it possible to use the same power source to power the electric lock ?
Perhaps I can use some kind of splitter to use the power from PoE or directly use an output port from the VTO ?
Would be interested in your opinion. Thanks

Has anyone done the VTO firmware upgrade to DH_VTOXXXXD-G_MultiLang_PN_SIP_V4.500.0000000.5.R.201026.bin ? available from DahuaWiki

edit: Also....Just finished install of x2 of these VTO's and x5 VTH all working fine. One question. Can you group call say upstairs VTH's? If I want to call the kids to come downstairs for dinner from the Kitchen VTH?

I think the answer to the above is setting up my own sip server via docker. Just saw @riogrande75 post Dahua VTO doorbell call to computed

Thanks all.

No issues with mine. Connected NO/C to my FAAC gateway walkway motor and it works fine.

I wanted to use the second unlock feature to toggle the dry contact opener on my FAAC driveway gate motor as well but worked out I needed to order Dahua Access Control Extension Module DEE1010B. Waiting for this to arrive.

No issues with BI as well. At the time I could not use the admin ONVIF as at the time not sure what the default password was, So created a new ONVIF user and used that with BI.

Jumping in as I just received and installed my VTO and VTH yesterday. Got it up and running pretty easily, few minor issues along the way which were solved with rebooting and at one point starting over. So I have the VTO and VTH communicating, can make a call from either side. Now that I (and the kids) have played with it a bit, I have some questions and thoughts:
  • Has anyone been able to change the woman's voice who lists the commands when you make a call, receive a call, hit the doorbell button, etc?
  • Video pops up when a call is made, but I am unable to get video in the "monitor" tab. I have added my other 5 cameras (all emprietech dahua's, mostly 5442's) to the "IPC" tab under "monitor", but am not able to see any of those as well.
  • Is there a setting to simply use a door chime when the doorbell button is pressed instead of making a call? Typical to a standard doorbell. Not sure if that is even an option.
  • I've got the VTO working in Blue Iris with no issues, it's recording, triggering alerts, etc. as all my other cameras are so that was nice and easy.
  • I reached out to Andy asking about purchasing additional VTH's which he said he can do and some others have said they have done as well. Before I do, I wanted to see if the VTH's could act like a regular monitor and show the grid view of all the cameras? It would be ideal as they are PoE, a decent size, and can interact like intercom's between VTH's and the VTO. But if you constantly have to keep hitting menu options and making a bunch of clicks each time, it kind of defeats the purpose of quickly tapping the screen to wake it and viewing the camera grid.
  • Last, can you change the date/time to US format? I'm stuck with 24 hour time and DD/MM/YYYY instead of MM/DD/YYYY. I thought I changed that in the initial setup but it doesn't seem like it saved the settings and the time is greyed out once initialized and running in the standard settings (nothing in the long press 6 second settings).
  • EDIT: Also, the Main stream and Sub stream settings are still backwards as others have mentioned.
Thanks!

All can you confirm you can watch the whole video clip of video messages left at the VTO via the DMSS app? Mine seems to only play 5 seconds of each message left on mobile. Viewing from VTH is fine. For example from DMSS app I can see a few clips over 15sec. Playing these clips will only play 5 secs.

Trying to confirm if it's just me and no one else.

Cheers

So for the first point, though I haven't fully done this yet, my plan here is to use my HomeAssistant installation to pick up the door pressed event (does this now), to trigger a Shelly to close the old-school doorbell circuit. Will post back when that's done.

Regarding Blue Iris - I have the camera in Blue Iris, but it doesn't seem to pick up ONVIF events when the button's pressed. So it's not triggering alerts. Did you do anything special to get it to do that?

I should clarify, I was referring to the camera motion/sound alerts through Blue Iris. I haven’t looked into the ability to capture the button press or if it’s possible through BI, but definitely interested if someone figures that out.

I’m in the process of setting this up. Set the Grd(VTO) direct to the electric strike, the 12V(VTO)to the NO(VTO) and the COM(VTO) to the electric strike and it works. Can open the lock from the VTH or the app.

Have you guys tried using a different ring tone?

FYI: new firmware has additional options.
my old firmware:
temp2.jpeg
to the newest looking firmware from Dahua home page:
temp2.jpg

Now I get 3 new things that I did not see before:
1.) UPDATE so you can easily update the firmware (I had to use the v5 ConfigTool to update from v4.4 to v4.5)
2.) UPLOAD FILE so you can change the audio files for the 6 voice responses (calling, no answer, etc).
3.) additional settings that I do not remember if they were on v4.4 or not: audio/video encryption and RTSP over TLS.
temp.jpg
4.) Sadly, did not fix the main stream 720p / substream 1080p issue. Maybe this was by design?
5.) I did upgrade "main program" and kept existing programming in place instead of starting anew.
6.) Sadly again...time remains fixed in 24hours instead of 12hours. phoey.
7.) for some reason... there are 2 firmwares listed. One is on the page that lists all the doobells (4 of them). I think the newer one is on the VTO 2202F-P page itself DahuaWiki

That’s exciting!! Have you tried changing the audio files? Please let me know if it works, I’m about to get mine next week.

is this the firmware that you’re using?
