Review-OEM 4mp AI Cam IPC-T5442TM-AS Starlight+

If your IR and IVS work you’re good to go

ps- you can update the firmware with it installed
IR seems to be working fine (at least it turns on, I don't know how it should work talking about proximity and so on).
IVS doesn't seem to be working, I have configured to Intrusion just as the Dahua Wiki says, but in Live View it doesn't show the draw I made as specified in the Wiki.

I've also followed this guide and it didn't work as expected

I know I can update the firmware with it installed, but since I'm running in my PC and I have a UPS here, I wanna play in the safe side.. So it would be safer to update here, since a powerloss could definitely kill almost any device updating its firmware :p

IVS won’t display on the live view tab of the camera. If it triggers and sends you an email it’s working. Also you should download SmartPSS for viewing. It will show the IVS lines if you tell it to.

Is anybody else having sub-par IVS performance on the 5442? The cat in the picture below walked right through the middle of a tripwire and an intrusion box and was never detected. It does trip if I walk through it. The Target Filter minimum size is set to 0-0, as is Pixel Counter. I don't have a clue what Pixel Counter is. My non-5442 cameras in the same situation will trip on a small bird walking through. (You can see a side-by-side 2nd camera in the upper right corner).

I have the opposite problem. Mine trips pretty easy. Could just be the black cat vs the bright light in the background doesn’t provide quite enough contrast ?

Has there been a newer firmware available that resolves the softness of the picture? I find this model producing a much softer picture quality compared to the 2mp models; thinking that it is just firmware-related. The picture lacks adequate sharpness; even if I dial up the sharpness it just exacerbates it which is puzzling

Someone please clue me in as to why I'm not getting any audio out of my recordings or live on my new IPC-T5442TM-AS. In additions to my setting below I have BI5 running as a service but pull up the GUI (via RDP) and don't get audio. Also tried UI3 running on another computer. All video related stuff is working great.

System Version V2.800.0000000.8.R, Build Date: 2019-09-02
WEB Version V3.2.1.783129
ONVIF Version 18.06(V2.4.5.698080)

Asking this to avoid min-interpretation. From the way the problem statement is worded, I'm assuming you do get audio on the live feed.

I'm getting nothing, nada...seems more like a camera issue but as a newb I'm not 100% sure I even know what I'm doing.

What exact model #

WEB Version V3.2.1.783129

ONVIF Version 18.06(V2.4.5.698080)

In the cameras GUI disable the noise filter.
Done!...no difference

Lemme pull another one of these out of the box and see if it behaves the same way.

Can you hear audio when you use the browser to view the video?

The BI5 server is networked and sitting in the closet.

I'm on a laptop connected via RDP to the BI5 server and have the BI5 GUI up and don't hear anything coming out of the BI5 server in the closet. Same result if I use a UI3 brower instead of the BI5 GUI bia RDP.

And, using a UI3 browers on the laptop (no RDP) I get the same result.

BTW, from the UI3 window (via RDP) I see Audio: YES but Stats for nerds show no audio bit stream. I do not have substream enabled on the camera.

Okay...I pulled another IPC-T5442TM-AS (we'll call this one #2) out of box and set it up. Audio WORKS! There's either some sort of subtle setting difference between #2 versus the first one (we'll call that one #1). I noted this morning that #1 was stuck in nighttime IR mode and everything I tried in the camera's GUI did nothing to get it unstuck. I had to unplug it to get it into color mode. Maybe #1 is just hosed.

Just FYI for anyone wondering where the audio sound comes out with my networked configuration...when using UI3 from either the laptop or UI3 on a RDP connection from the laptop to the BI5 server the sound comes out of the laptop. Using the BI5 GUI via RDP the sound comes out of the BI5 server not the laptop.

Set number one back to factory defaults, then try audio again.

I would stop using RDP, until you get the bugs worked out.
