Review-OEM 4mp AI Cam IPC-T5442TM-AS Starlight+

Great. Thanks for the responses.

Best part about this camera is no need to take the camera apart in order to reset it; there's a small access panel secured by two hex screws, in that you will find the microSD card slot and reset button

Pitching in with version info here as well, just got 3x T5442 (3.6mm + 6mm), shipped Friday and received Monday (!), and they all have the following:

Also received a T2231T-ZS, which has slightly different:

ONVIF Version 18.06 (V2.4.5.782676)
Algorithm Version 1.0.0
Security Baseline Version V2.0

Thank you @EMPIRETECANDY for great service!

Thanks Andy for the camera as well. Arrived very fast. I need to wait until Christmas, to see if everything is OK, one of my presents for myself. Need to pick up a birdhouse from Michaels and let my daughter paint it.
Purchased a stand from Amazon, on which will rest the house.

I haven't turned it on yet, to check, but the IR LEDs, are above and below the lens, right?

Those 2cams use different firmware, because the T2231T-ZS is a latest new model. So it has newer firmware.

@EMPIRETECANDY my T5442TM has just arrived but it has a slightly old version of firmware compared to some other folks cam here

System VersionV2.800.0000000.1.R, Build Date: 2019-07-06
WEB VersionV3.2.1.757312
ONVIF Version18.06(V2.4.5.698080)

Is there a way to update it?
Or am I wrong and you shipped my unit updated? I don't know if the build date pattern is YYYY-MM-DD or YYYY-DD-MM.
@jstrom version is 2019-09-02, so perhaps mine or his is outdated.

Btw, is there a way to turn the RED LED from these cameras? I also bought with you a turret cam and it also turn on a RED LED when the IR is ON.

I bought 3 from Andy during his recent Black Friday / Cyber Monday sale. Just looking at one of them shows...

I don’t agonize over the latest firmware unless 1- there’s a problem that it fixes or 2- new features. Anyone who grew up with Windos has learned if it ain’t broke don’t fix it

the RED LED IS the IR

Are you saying that when the camera is in black and white the IR doesn’t come on? What is your IR setting?

The camera in black and white turns on the IR, which consequently turns on a red light.

But I just got the answer here why we can see this RED light when the IR is on:

In short, this is not Far-IR which is invisible to our eyes. This is the Near-IR, which is cheaper and mass-produced. So never mind, this red light is indeed the IR and cannot be turn off (actually it can, but if I turn off this red light, I'm basically turning off the IR feature, lol).

About the firmware: There were some bugs in the oldest firmware, I just don't remember which one (I think it was related to Smart IR).
So I just wanna update to the latest this time, I won't be updating for no reason in the future.
And I'm also with a problem in the Camera > Conditions menu.

Oh, and by the way guys, at least my unit has 0 movement when the screw is set in place. And I can see that this camera has a far better built quality compared to IPC-HFW1831E.

Are you using IE browser? Some of the newer cameras will not display certain menu items correctly with other browsers..

Tested in Chrome.
Should I be using IE browser? If so, it kinda doesn't seem right, since new tech basically is never ment to be used in IE.

The IPC-HFW1831E model works flawlessly in Chrome, though.

Weird, it doesn't work in Chrome in normal mode (with extension and so on). When in Private Mode (Incognito), it does work. LOL.
In Firefox it also works (no extension installed).

Now I just want to know before hand (because I will in beggining of January install this cam) if this firmware is already updated with IR stuff or if I need @EMPIRETYCANDY help to update it.

@bigredfish thank you for the tip.

If your IR and IVS work you’re good to go

ps- you can update the firmware with it installed
