Sweet! LTS is releasing an ONVIF compatible doorbell with SD card slot and 940nm IR

Good news. I think I may have a solution to the buzzing in the chime. At least it worked for me. Most chimes should have 3 terminals. One is common, in the middle. The other 2 are for the front door and the back door. Just bridge the front and back door terminals with a wire.

I have a picture and an explanation on my blog post at the end. Please let me know if this worked for you.

Installing the Nelly Security WiFi Video Doorbell

I have an alternative (but probably equally as effective) solution. I was a little nervous about just randomly sticking a wire in there without knowing more about what was going on, so I googled a little more about the problem. People have the same issue with Ring Pro, August, etc. August has a solution called the "August Chime Power Board" that is listed on their store for $0.00 with free shipping, so I ordered it. I figured I would get contacted by them to confirm my ownership of an August doorbell, but I got a shipping notification the next day. I got the power board today and it was a 2 minute install and the buzzing is completely gone and my RCA doorbell still works great. Before I installed it I took it apart, it's a very simple board. Here are some pictures:

Maybe someone who knows a little bit more about circuits can tell me what exactly is in this board. To me it just looks like a resistor and some sort of IC. I'm wondering what this does opposed to the solution that @theneedfull came up with.

I would encourage everyone to refrain from taking advantage of August's "free" solution. I feel kind of bad for even tipping everyone off to this. Hopefully we can come up with a simple DIY substitute, or someone can confirm why @theneedfull's solution works and why it's safe :)

I don't believe there was a final answer on this. Does anyone know what the power booster setting is for the video doorbell?powerbooster.JPG

I just want to confirm.... the hik-connect cloud to access motion recording... is the recording actually stored on the Hikvision cloud? or does it merely connect you to the recording store on the SD card?

I did some quick test and it seem to be the latter (reboot the router so the camera is offline during the reboot and cannot seem to access the motion recording via the hik-connect app)

Yeah, I noticed the same thing in my limited testing. I was trying to figure out that out as well because I couldn't connect to my motion alerted recordings when I didn't have internet access.

I'm trying to rule out if my unit might bad. I'm getting the 'Network disconnected' and 'Abnormal shutdown' in the log sometimes when doorbell is pressed and start 2-way voice communication with doorbell and get the red ring before rebooting, connecting back to Wi-Fi and registering with Hik-Connect server. It's not Wi-Fi signal as I tested with android Wi-Fi analyzer app in that location before purchasing and it's strong. On the opposite side of that wall has a Wi-Fi Honeywell Tuxedo touchscreen that has worked flawlessly on same Wi-Fi AP. Doorbell works fine recording via my NVR and I can view stream on any device with no hiccups until I answer doorbell and start 2way communication.

I upgraded from V1.4.62 build 171114 to V1.4.62 build 171127 last night but may try upgrading further to build 171201, 171218 or 171219. Any others experience the abnormal shutdown/reboots in their logs and did the more recent firmware resolved or lessen reboots?

The wifi on the Bell is weak, my router allow me to check the link speed for devices and the doorbell link is much slower than my front door cam which I will be moving to my backyard but the cam and bell is only a few feet from each other right now

This is probably a long shot but try reversing the wires. It shouldn’t matter and it doesn’t make sense to me, but mine was having issues connecting and I reversed the wires and it connected ina few seconds and had worked great since then.

I might try but it's not that it is having an issue connecting as it works fine until I have someone ring the doorbell and I accept the call to make 2way communication. If I don't pick up that video doorbell call, it doesn't have the abnormal shutdown/network disconnect problem and continues to work as usual. I'll upgrade FW first to check if symptoms change and then try switching the wires.

-Wi-Fi signal is 4 bars and has high link speed per my asus router and Wi-Fi analyzer tool says great reception on that wall location.
-Voltmeter says I got 19V from the transformer so that rules out low voltage causing disconnects.

Will try upgrading FW to .201/.218/.219 as next step and if all else fails, I'll use it for only viewing(no voice answer) with recording to my NVR until maybe a future FW somehow resolves weird issue.

it sounds like the bell is losing/having insufficient power when the button got pressed.

I thought that at first which was why I checked voltage with voltmeter but seeing 19V told me it's other factor(s). If I don't accept the video doorbell call on my phone, it continues to stay network connected and I can continue to press the doorbell as many times in a row as I'd like as long as I don't accept the call to begin 2way conversation that will lead to adnormal shutdown condition.

When I accept the video call, I start talking with other person and we can hear each other conversing and then suddenly I see the red ring, then it reboots, it powers back on saying network is now connected and then doorbell is registered with server. Almost feels like a memory leak once I accept the incoming video call...

I found something about the Power Booster by accident, looks like it maybe an auxiliary power unit of some sort

assuming they are the same thing.... enabling the setting along with the use of the extra box may let the Bell draw more power for better performance? just guessing the partnumber MAYBE DS-KPB01
Google is coming up empty right now

anyone has a link to firmware 171212? I used the Laview connect app using firmware 171205 as indicated by earlier post but its not pulling any OTA update.

Nice find. It does seem to be a physical optional product. The pdf shows that the power booster is optional equipment to attach to the option doorbell chime. Maybe that power booster can allow for higher than the locked down 12 fps in latest firmware.

I just upgraded my doorbell's firmware to LTK6128W-WIFI_V1.4.62_171219 and it is behaving a lot better now. It has only rebooted once in my recent tests from my easily repro'd network disconnect/abnormal shutdown issue when accepting call from video doorbell that occurred in build 171114 & 171127. The video call no longer quits and get the red ring of death on the doorbell. The only drawback is being locked to 12 fps as mentioned by several others who are on 171219 or Clare's 171218. Hopefully future firmware will allow for higher fps. IR reflection is not too noticeable so doorbell is definitely a keeper now that I've mostly resolved the abnormal shutdown issue.

After trying a few, I opted to jump to latest available 171219 to minimize effort since there was only one drawback of the 12fps. Also, I don't have a copy of the 171205.
